Dallas police have arrested Rocky Mejia in connection with a capital murder stemming from a shooting on Lombardy Lane last week. Investigators believe the shooting is also linked to a series of aggravated robberies in Dallas and plano.
According to an arrest affidavit, surveillance footage from a business across the street from Hernandez Esparza’s parking lot showed a silver Chevy Malibu approaching the location. Minutes later,both the Malibu and the victim’s Honda Civic left the area together.
Police identified Mejia as the owner of the Chevy Malibu.
The victim’s Honda Civic was later found abandoned with altered license plates. Investigators determined the vehicle was involved in other aggravated robberies in Dallas and Plano the previous week.

Mejia is currently held in the Dallas County Jail on a $504,000 bond, facing charges of capital murder.
Court records reveal a significant criminal history for Mejia in Dallas County, including prior arrests for aggravated robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, evading arrest, and multiple probation violations. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office provided mugshots from the past five years.
Jail records indicate Mejia was out on bond at the time of his arrest Friday.
He also faces a charge from Garland for allegedly assaulting a family member.
