El Paso Woman Accused in Fatal ‍Stabbing of Man in South Side Apartment

EL‍ PASO, Texas – A woman has been identified as a suspect in the stabbing ‌death⁤ of‌ a⁣ man found in his El Paso apartment on Olive Avenue, according ‌to an affidavit. Investigators allege the woman, identified as Ramirez, was seen on surveillance video fleeing the scene with a knife shortly after the estimated‍ time of the homicide.

Police ‌were⁣ called to the apartment on September‌ 16, 2025, and discovered Jorge Serna ⁤with no signs of life, according to the affidavit. Emergency ⁤responders⁣ from the El Paso Fire Department Fire Medical Services confirmed Serna’s death at the scene.

Outside ⁢the apartment, officers found footprints ⁣in suspected blood leading away ⁤from the front‍ door for approximately 10 to 15 feet.

Surveillance⁤ footage from a nearby residence reportedly shows a woman later identified as ⁣Ramirez leaving Serna’s⁢ apartment around 7:20 a.m. carrying a knife. The woman’s path of flight aligned with the location of the bloody footprints, the affidavit‌ states. A “distinct tattoo” on her left shoulder was also noted.

A man⁢ who frequently visited Serna’s apartment corroborated the identification, stating he often saw a woman matching Ramirez’s description,‍ including the same tattoo. He specifically recalled the tattoo depicting musical notes.‌ He positively identified Ramirez in both the surveillance video and a photograph provided by police.

Investigators further confirmed the suspect’s identity by locating Ramirez’s Facebook page, which featured a photo‌ displaying the matching tattoo on her left shoulder.

The affidavit does not detail a motive for ⁢the alleged⁣ stabbing,‍ nor⁣ does it include details regarding Ramirez’s arrest or any police⁣ interviews with⁤ her.

The El ⁤Paso Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit is continuing the‍ investigation.

David Joseph execution-of-polk-county-triple-murderer-david-pittman/” title=”Sheriff Grady Judd To Witness … Of … Triple … – Tampa”>Pittman Executed in Florida: A 35-Year Case Closes with⁤ Claims of innocence

Starke, FL – David Joseph Pittman, convicted of the brutal 1990 murders of ⁣his estranged⁣ wife’s family in Mulberry, Florida, was ‍executed by lethal injection at 6:00 PM‌ on September 17th at‌ Florida State Prison. The⁣ execution marks the⁣ state’s⁤ 12th of the year, a record number.

Pittman, 63, was found guilty ‌in April 1991 of three counts of first-degree‌ murder for⁢ the ⁣deaths of Clarence and Barbara Knowles, and their daughter, Bonnie. The⁤ crimes were especially heinous: Pittman ⁣stabbed the victims, slit Bonnie Knowles’ throat,⁤ then set the family home ablaze, attempting to destroy evidence and prevent the ⁣victims from calling for help by cutting the telephone lines. He subsequently stole their daughter’s car, abandoning and ‍burning it⁣ in a nearby ditch.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd,⁣ a first responder on the scene at the time as a patrol division major, described the scene⁤ as particularly disturbing. “He purchased gasoline to start the fire,” Judd stated, highlighting the premeditation involved in the killings.

The ⁢motive behind the murders stemmed from a complex web of personal grievances. Court records reveal Pittman’s wife had served him with divorce papers while he was already incarcerated on an unrelated charge. Further fueling his rage was Bonnie Knowles’ 1989 allegation that Pittman had raped her⁣ – a case ultimately dropped due to a delay in filing the charges.

(See video above: Reaction to David Joseph ‍Pittman’s execution outside the prison)

Pittman was pronounced ⁣dead at 6:12 p.m., according to the Florida Department of Corrections. In his ⁢final moments, he maintained ⁢his ⁢innocence, stating, “I know‌ you all came to⁢ watch an innocent man be murdered by the State of Florida. I am innocent. I didn’t kill anybody. that’s it,” as ⁣reported by⁤ WFLA TV News.

The case, spanning⁣ 35 years from the crime to the‌ execution, underscores the lengthy and complex nature of capital punishment cases. The execution of David⁣ Joseph Pittman brings a somber⁣ close to a decades-old⁢ tragedy for the Knowles family and raises continued debate surrounding the death penalty and the‌ possibility of wrongful convictions.

Fed’s Lisa Cook declared Atlanta property as “vacation home,” doc show

by Priya Shah – Business Editor September 14, 2025

Federal Reserve ‍Governor Lisa cook Identified Property as ⁢’Vacation ‌Home’ While Seeking Tax Break

WASHINGTON ‍- Federal ‍Reserve Governor Lisa Cook designated a property in Atlanta⁤ as a ⁢”vacation home” in documents filed seeking a⁤ tax break, despite previously claiming a primary residence⁤ elsewhere, according to records reviewed by ⁤USA TODAY. ⁢The revelation comes amid‌ heightened⁤ scrutiny ‍of CookS financial dealings and ongoing criticism ⁢from‌ former President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly attacked the Federal Reserve’s leadership ⁢and⁣ called for lower interest rates.

The documents, filed with the ‍Fulton County, Georgia, tax assessor’s ‍office, show Cook claimed a homestead exemption for the Atlanta property in 2022, identifying it as a second home used ‌for vacations. Simultaneously, public records ⁤indicate⁣ Cook⁤ maintained a primary residence in Ann ‍Arbor,Michigan, raising questions about the consistency of those claims. Homestead exemptions ⁣are typically granted to⁣ homeowners who occupy a property as their primary residence, offering important property tax reductions.

The disclosure adds to a series of controversies surrounding Cook, who was nominated by President biden and confirmed by the Senate in ⁢2022.⁣ Trump has ⁢publicly‌ attacked Cook, and⁢ recently sought a court order to remove ⁤her from the Fed, alleging conflicts⁤ of⁢ interest related to her husband’s mortgage lending buisness.A judge has so far rejected those efforts, allowing Cook to remain on the board while the case proceeds.⁤

The scrutiny extends beyond Cook. Recent ⁢reporting‌ by Reuters revealed that Bill Pulte, a vocal critic of Cook, and his parents had also faced⁢ questions regarding their⁣ claims of primary residency for tax purposes. ‍Pulte’s father and stepmother had‍ declared two homes in different⁢ states as their primary residence, leading to ‌the revocation of⁢ a tax exemption in Michigan ‌and a demand for back taxes.

the⁢ Federal Reserve declined to comment‍ on Cook’s Atlanta property. cook has ⁣not publicly ‌addressed the specific⁢ details of the tax filing. The timing of this revelation is‌ particularly sensitive as the Federal Reserve weighs future interest rate‍ decisions, a topic on which Trump has been⁣ particularly outspoken.

Secret Service Agent Fired Over Anti-Kirk Social Media Posts

US Secret Service Agent Placed on‌ Leave Following Anti-Charlie Kirk⁣ Facebook Post

WASHINGTON – A US Secret Service agent has been placed on administrative leave following a Facebook post perceived‌ as celebrating the death of ⁤conservative activist Charlie Kirk, according to a statement released Friday by the agency. ⁢The agent, identified ‌as Sosh-Lightsy, is under investigation⁣ for‌ violating⁤ agency social media policies.

The⁢ incident is the latest ⁢in a series of employment‍ consequences stemming from public reactions to Kirk’s death. The fallout highlights the increasingly ⁢scrutinized intersection of⁣ personal opinions, social media activity, and professional repercussions, notably for ⁤those in positions of public trust or wiht visible public roles.

“The Secret ⁢Service takes ⁢all allegations of misconduct⁤ seriously,” the agency’s ⁣statement,⁣ as reported by MTSU News, reads.”This employee has been‍ fired ⁣effective immediately. We extend our deepest sympathies to the Kirk ⁤family.”

The firing of Sosh-Lightsy is part of a ‌broader pattern of swift ⁤action taken ‍by organizations against employees expressing controversial views following Kirk’s death. A Marine was also fired over⁣ an‍ anti-Charlie Kirk post, MSNBC terminated ‌analyst⁤ matthew Dowd⁣ over on-air comments made ‌after the shooting, Ole Miss dismissed an⁢ employee for related comments, and the ‌Carolina Panthers fired their communications coordinator over instagram‌ posts referencing the activist’s slaying.

Further illustrating the sensitivity ‍surrounding public expression in the wake of ⁣the incident, a reporter for ‌Floridapolitics.com was suspended for texting a Florida state representative a question about gun control reform shortly after Kirk was killed.

experts note the pervasive nature of public scrutiny in the digital age. “No matter how private your⁢ life is,everybody has⁣ an audience,” Karen⁣ North,a professor of ⁤digital ⁤social media at the University of Southern California, told USA TODAY in ⁣2024. ”And there’s always ⁤an audience for people misbehaving.”

NCAA Cracks Down: Three Basketball Players Banned for Sports Betting Manipulation

September 10, 2025⁣ – The NCAA has issued a stark warning about the growing threat of sports betting influence, permanently banning three men’s basketball players -⁤ Mykell Robinson and Steven Vasquez ‌of San Jose State, and Jalen weaver‌ of Fresno ⁣State – for deliberately manipulating ⁢game performance for personal betting gain. The announcement,‍ made today, underscores the association’s commitment to safeguarding the ‌integrity of collegiate athletics in the face of increasingly⁣ elegant threats.

The ⁣investigation, triggered by a Nevada sportsbook flagging suspicious activity, revealed a coordinated effort to exploit prop bets. Specifically, the players conspired to ensure Robinson’s⁤ statistical performance fell under pre-resolute lines,⁤ allowing them and a third⁤ party to profit from their wagers.”This case demonstrates a clear and purposeful ‍attempt to ⁣undermine the principles of fair play,” stated the NCAA Committee ‌on Infractions.”The ⁣actions of these⁢ student-athletes represent a⁤ serious breach of ethical‌ conduct rules and will not be tolerated.”

The ⁤scheme came to⁣ light ‍after unusual prop bets were placed on Robinson during a January 7th game against Colorado State. A subsequent investigation of Robinson’s phone revealed interaction with ⁢Vasquez, a former teammate, detailing‍ a plan to influence⁣ the outcome of bets on⁤ Robinson’s point totals. The players collectively wagered $2,200 and reaped a payout of $15,950 from the manipulated game.

Further investigation revealed Robinson engaged in 13‍ similar ‌prop bets throughout the season, raising concerns about the potential for wider-spread ⁤manipulation.

All three athletes have been released from their respective⁢ teams and are no longer ⁢enrolled in their⁤ universities. The NCAA’s ⁣decision ‍to impose a permanent ban sends a strong message to student-athletes and the wider sports betting ⁣community: the integrity of the game is⁢ paramount, and any⁣ attempt to compromise it‍ will be met with ⁣severe consequences. The Rise of Sports⁤ Betting and Collegiate Athletics

This case arrives at a critical juncture for college sports. With the rapid expansion of legal sports betting across the United States, the NCAA is facing unprecedented challenges in protecting ⁤its games ⁤from external influence. The organization has implemented new policies and monitoring systems, but today’s announcement highlights the need for‍ continued vigilance and proactive measures to combat this evolving ⁤threat.
