Theโ newโ functionality mirrors similar offerings fromโ Meta’sโ WhatsApp, where users can interact withโข AI withinโ both โฃgroup and individual chats.However, OpenAI emphasizes a key distinction: unlike Meta AI,โฃ conversations within ChatGPT’s Group Chat will not โคbe used โฃfor targeted advertisingโค or personalized content.
OpenAI envisions the group Chatโฃ feature as notably useful for collective problem-solving. “It is helpful for group decisions like finding a restaurant or settling โขa debate, where ChatGPT could act as an impartial referee,” โขthe company stated inโ a blog post. To initiate a group chat,โ users can tap the peopel icon in the โคtop-right corner of an existing chat. Adding a friend creates a new groupโฃ chat, preserving the original conversation. Users can also share a link to invite up โฃtoโค twenty participants.
New โฃusers joining or โcreating a โgroup chat will be โฃprompted โto create a profile with โฃtheir name, username, and photo for identification. Group chats will be accessible through a dedicated section in the โsidebar.
