NFL Game to Stream Live and free on YouTube This Friday
LOS ANGELES – For the first time, an NFL regular season game will be streamed live and free to all viewers on YouTube this Friday, September 5th, as the Los Angeles Chargers face the Kansas City Chiefs. The game marks a significant expansion of the NFL’s media strategy, offering fans access beyond conventional television and paid streaming services.
The week 1 contest will be available via live stream on YouTube and YouTube TV. In the Kansas City and Los Angeles markets, the game will also be broadcast on local stations KSHB 41 (KC) and NBC4 Los Angeles (LA). Pregame coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET, with kickoff scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
Viewers can access the stream through the YouTube app on smart TVs and mobile devices. The broadcast team includes Rich Eisen on play-by-play, with analysis from Kurt Warner and sideline reporting from Stacy Dales. YouTube creator Donald “Deestroying” De La Haye will also contribute as a sideline reporter. Kay Adams will anchor pre- and post-game coverage alongside former NFL MVP Cam Newton and other NFL players and YouTube personalities.
This game represents a growing trend of NFL content appearing on streaming platforms like Peacock, Prime Video, Netflix, and ESPN+, but uniquely, this broadcast does not require a subscription. The NFL’s move to YouTube signals a broader shift in media consumption and accessibility for fans worldwide.
