Solo Leveling Fans: 5 Anime to Watch While You Wait for Season 3

by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor February 26, 2026
written by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor

Fans of the anime series “Solo Leveling” are seeking recommendations for similar shows as they await confirmation of a third season, or any news regarding the future of the acclaimed adaptation. While the winter 2026 anime season offers titles like “Jujutsu Kaisen” and “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s Finish,” several other series explore themes of ambition, redemption, and action-packed sequences that may appeal to those following the story of Sung Jinwoo, known as the “World’s Weakest Hunter.”

“Gachiakuta,” a relatively new series that premiered in July 2025 and ran through December, follows Rudo, a young man cast into a monstrous wasteland and forced to fight for survival. The series, based on the manga by Kei Urana, centers on Rudo’s pursuit of vengeance and eventual decision to use his newfound powers for the betterment of society as a “Cleaner.”

“Chainsaw Man,” another action-heavy series, is also suggested for fans of “Solo Leveling,” despite tonal differences. Based on the manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, the series currently has one season and a feature film released in 2025, with a second season anticipated to continue the story of Denji. The narrative follows a teenager who merges with a chainsaw demon, leading to a life of battling other demons to pay off his father’s debts.

“To Be Hero X” is the third installment in the “To Be Hero” anthology franchise. The series is set in a world where collective belief grants superpowers, and a protagonist gains significant power after a near-death experience, mirroring elements of “Solo Leveling.”

“Sentenced To Be A Hero,” based on the light novels by Rocket Shokai and illustrated by Mephisto, has quickly gained popularity in the winter 2026 anime season. The series depicts a world where criminals are condemned to heroism, fighting hordes of monsters as punishment. The story centers on Xylo Forbartz, a former Holy Knight sentenced to this fate after being accused of deicide.

“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” is presented as a comprehensive option, with four seasons and 63 episodes currently available on Crunchyroll, alongside a highly successful 2025 film. The anime, adapted from the manga by Koyoharu Gotōge, follows Tanjiro as he becomes a demon slayer to avenge his family and restore his sister Nezuko to humanity. A re-airing of “Demon Slayer” is scheduled in Japan for April 2026, and the final two films in the trilogy are anticipated.

Recently, the author of “Solo Leveling,” Chugong, confirmed details regarding the human origins of the character Igris, sparking discussion among fans and drawing connections to Gojo Satoru from “Jujutsu Kaisen.” This revelation has fueled speculation and theories within both fan communities. Chugong previously addressed claims that “Solo Leveling” was anti-Japanese, vehemently denying the allegations on fan forums.

Crunchyroll recently posted a segment of “Solo Leveling” episode 5, referencing a popular quote from “Jujutsu Kaisen’s” Gojo Satoru, further highlighting the connection between the two series.

Centuria: The Dark Fantasy Manga You Need to Read Now

Centuria: The Dark ‍fantasy⁣ Manga Taking ⁣Manga ⁤Plus by Storm

published: 2026/01/23 09:19:11

In the crowded landscape of manga-reading‌ apps, where titles like ⁣ One Piece, Chainsaw Man, and Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo often dominate the headlines, a new ⁤series is quietly⁤ building a dedicated following. While these⁢ established giants certainly have their merits, the true gems on⁣ platforms⁢ like Manga Plus are frequently enough found amongst‍ the newer titles. ‍Alongside the sci-fi spectacle of ⁣ MAD, Centuria is rapidly emerging as ‍a must-read for dark fantasy enthusiasts.

A ⁢Dark Fantasy Fusion: ⁢Echoes of Vinland Saga and Berserk

Created by Tohru ‍kuramori, Centuria ⁢ instantly evokes comparisons to seminal works ⁣of the genre. The series feels like‌ a compelling synthesis of ‍Makoto Yukimura’s historically grounded and pacifist-leaning epic, Vinland Saga, ⁤and⁢ the brutal, melancholic artistry of Kentaro Miura’s masterpiece, Berserk. However, centuria isn’t merely derivative; it’s forging its own path, pushing the boundaries of dark fantasy and establishing a unique identity in a field often dominated by ‌ Berserk-inspired works.

The Story: A Bargain with Darkness

The narrative centers ⁢on Julian, a young ⁤man haunted by a tragic past. He ⁣finds himself as a stowaway on a⁤ ship transporting slaves towards freedom.A bond forms with his fellow captives, particularly Mira, ‍a pregnant woman who rekindles Julian’s hope ⁢for a better life. This fragile peace is shattered by a⁢ brutal massacre orchestrated by‌ the ship’s captain, followed by the emergence of a terrifying eldritch being from the sea. In the ensuing chaos, Julian is offered a dark‍ bargain: supernatural ‍power granted by absorbing the life force of his fallen ‌comrades.⁣ He becomes a‌ quasi-immortal, resurrected with each death, but his remaining lives dwindle⁢ with every resurrection. Driven by a ⁣debt to those he lost, Julian dedicates himself to protecting mira’s newborn daughter, Diana, from those who seek to exploit her as⁢ the “child of prophecy.”

World-Building and⁢ Pacing:⁤ A carefully Constructed Narrative

Centuria’s strength⁤ lies in⁣ its⁣ purposeful‍ and compelling world-building. The story unfolds organically, expanding like ⁢a complex‍ web, with each chapter revealing new layers of intrigue and deepening the existing mysteries. Despite a brisk⁣ pace, the narrative never feels ‍rushed ‍or disjointed. Each installment delivers either a captivating cliffhanger,a deeply emotional moment,a important plot twist,or a clever ⁣subversion of expectations. ‌

Kuramori skillfully ‌avoids the tropes⁤ of the “lone wolf and cub” dynamic frequently enough found in similar ‌stories. Instead, Julian is surrounded‌ by a growing circle of allies who form a found family‍ – a village committed to raising the child of prophecy and defending her against all threats. This emphasis on community and ⁢connection adds a ⁣unique⁢ emotional resonance to the narrative.

Stunning visuals: A Tapestry of Detail

Beyond the compelling story, centuria boasts some of the⁣ most detailed and evocative artwork in the manga medium.kuramori’s ⁣artistic style draws inspiration from the medieval artistry of the Bayeux ⁢Tapestry, with textures ⁤that appear almost tangible. The double-page color spreads are particularly breathtaking, evoking the haunting grandeur of‍ vistas found in games like Dark Souls and Elden Ring. Even rendered in simple black and white, these scenes are ‌both awe-inspiring and terrifying.

A Lineage‌ of Talent:‌ The Fujimoto Connection

what makes Centuria even more intriguing is its connection to a remarkable lineage of manga artists. Kuramori is a ⁣former assistant to both Tatsuki Fujimoto, the creator of ⁤ Chainsaw Man,and Tatsu, the creator of Dandadan. This isn’t unusual – many aspiring mangaka hone their skills by assisting established artists. However, ⁣those ‍who have worked under Fujimoto seem to consistently ⁢produce uniquely innovative and compelling series.

Kuramori’s time assisting ⁢Fujimoto on ⁢projects like goodbye Eri and‌ chapters of dandadan is ⁤evident ‍in Centuria’s impressive character designs, inventive ⁣power systems, and captivating villains. The series shares ⁢Fujimoto’s penchant for drawing compelling female characters, a trait that has even garnered attention from Tatsu ‌himself,⁢ who created fan art of Kuramori’s characters and playfully urged him not to kill them off.

Critical Acclaim and Future Potential

Over the past two years, Centuria has steadily ‍gained momentum, earning recognition as⁤ a must-read manga. Its quality has even been ‌acknowledged by Shuhei Hosono, the editor-in-chief‍ of Manga Plus, who described it⁤ as ‌a potential masterpiece.‍

“It has both a complex story and ⁤special-power battles, ⁤and I ⁤have there’s no doubt whatsoever it’s going to become a masterpiece, so⁤ I hope more people give it a read,” hosono stated⁢ in a recent YouTube video.

Given ⁢the success of‌ other series from Fujimoto’s former assistants, an anime adaptation of Centuria seems increasingly likely. Now is the perfect time ⁣to discover this captivating manga and experience the dark fantasy world that is quickly becoming a favourite among fans.
