Missouri Tigers Claw Past South Carolina, 29-20, Extending home Win Streak
COLUMBIA, MO – Teh No. 23 Missouri Tigers secured their 14th consecutive home victory Saturday night, overcoming a resilient South Carolina team with a final score of 29-20.A dominant rushing attack and a clutch performance from quarterback Beau Pribula proved to be the difference for Missouri.
Ahmad Hardy spearheaded the tigers’ ground game, racking up 138 rushing yards and a crucial touchdown. The tigers finished the night with an impressive 285 rushing yards, a stark contrast to South Carolina’s struggles, which resulted in a net of -9 yards on the ground.
Missouri drew first blood with a 99-yard drive – their third full-field march of the season. However, South Carolina quickly responded as quarterback LaNorris Sellers connected with Vandrevius Jacobs for a 49-yard touchdown, taking a 7-6 lead. Sellers continued to impress, finding Brian Rowe Jr. for another touchdown, giving the Gamecocks a 14-12 advantage at halftime.
The second half saw Hardy take control, showcasing his power and agility with a remarkable touchdown run. Facing a potential tackle at the line of scrimmage, Hardy spun off the pile and powered his way into the endzone, putting Missouri ahead 18-16.
The game mirrored last year’s nail-biting contest between thes two teams, where Sellers orchestrated a late-game comeback for South Carolina. Though, this time the script was flipped.
With the game hanging in the balance, Pribula orchestrated a key drive in the fourth quarter. Following a brief rest for Hardy, Jamal Roberts sealed the deal with a 16-yard touchdown run, followed by a successful two-point conversion by Pribula, extending Missouri’s lead to 26-20 with 9:36 remaining.
The Tigers’ defense then stepped up, forcing South Carolina into two consecutive three-and-out possessions. Robert Meyer capped off the victory with a 40-yard field goal with just 1:34 left on the clock.
Pribula finished the night with 171 passing yards and a touchdown. sellers led South Carolina with 302 passing yards and
