Hyderabad: Indian Test player Hanuma Vihari has resigned as the captain of the Andhra Pradesh cricket team. Vihari’s unexpected move comes hours before the Ranji Trophy cricket match against Mumbai starts today.

Senior batter Ricky Bhui is the captain instead. Andhra and Mumbai will face each other at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy ground. Ricky Bhui said that Hanuma Vihari resigned due to personal reasons.

Alappuzha: Uttar Pradesh scores well in Ranji Trophy Elite B Group match against Kerala. S.D. Uttar Pradesh were 244 for five when play was stopped on the first day of the match at the College Ground.

Indian player Rinku Singh (71 off 103 balls with two sixes and seven fours) and Dhruv Jural (54 with one six and four fours off 100 balls) are at the crease. Uttar Pradesh skipper Aryan Juyal won the toss and elected to bat first. Samarth Singh (10) and Aryan Juyal (28) opened the innings. MD trapped Samarth in front of the wicket. Nitish took the first wicket for Kerala.

Aryan Juyal was bowled by Vysakh Chandran to wicketkeeper Vishnu Vinod. Priyam Garg (44 off 69 balls) with the help of Aryan and Akshadeep Nath (nine) tried to get the team going. Basil Thambi took the wicket of Garg and brought Kerala back.

Sameer Rizvi (26 off 18 balls with two sixes and two fours), who batted in ODI style, was brought to the hands of skipper Sanju Samson by Shreyas Gopal. With Jalaj Saxena also dismissing Akshadeep Nath, Uttar Pradesh were reduced to 124 for five. Rinku and Dhru got together from there. In the match against Andhra Pradesh, Bengal is 289 for 4. Sydney: Great fight by Pakistan in the third cricket test against Australia. Half-centuries from tail-ender Amir Jamal (82 off 97 balls with four sixes and nine fours), wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan (88 off 103 balls with two sixes and 10 fours) and Agha Salman (53 off 67 balls) rescued Pakistan from a massive collapse. Their first innings ended on 313 runs.

When play was stopped on the first day, Australia were six runs without losing a wicket. David Warner and Usman Khawaja (0) who scored six runs are at the crease. Pakistan, who were crushed at the rate of 96 runs for five, rushed towards 300 runs. Pakistan skipper Shan Masood won the toss and elected to bat first.
