CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The University of Virginia volleyball teamโฃ continues โits 2025 campaign this weekend, welcoming Boston College onโ Fridayโ evening adn Syracuse on Sunday afternoon atโ Memorial Gymnasium. โคComing off a historic 2024 season, the Cavaliers aim to โฃbuild โฃon recent success as they navigate the โฃACC schedule.
Virginia’sโฃ resurgence culminated in a 21-win season in 2024 – the program’s most victories since 2006 – and a berthโค in โthe National Invitational Volleyball Championship, โmarking theirโ first โpostseason appearance since 1999. The team also secured 11 ACC wins, the mostโฃ since 2013. This weekend’s matches offer an early opportunityโ to gauge progress and โestablish momentum within the conference.
Leading the chargeโ for โUVA โare returning seniors Kate Johnson โ(defensiveโ specialist/libero), Kadynce โBooth (outside hitter),โค and Kate Dean (middle blocker). Johnson is unique as theโ only player who has been withโ the program for all four years. the junior class features Meredith Reegโ (defensive specialist/libero), whoโ returns โafterโฃ missing much of the 2024 season due to injury, and Laurynโ Bowie (outside hitter/right side).
The sophomore class boasts 2024โข All-ACC freshman team selection Zoey Dood (setter) alongside Beccaโฃ Wight (right side). Sarah Brodner (outside hitter/right side) and Teagan hogan (defensive specialist/libero) complete โฃthe group of returning players. โ
Friday’sโค match against Boston College is scheduled for 7:00 PMโค ET, followed byโ aโ Sunday afternoon contest โagainst Syracuse at 1:00โข PMโ ET. Both games โขwill โฃbe played at Memorial โGymnasium โฃin Charlottesville.
