New Route Support Eligibility and Conditions at Eindhoven Airport

New Route Support Eligibility and Conditions at Eindhoven Airport

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com September 24, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Eindhoven Airport has a list of twenty destinations for which airlines can receive New Route Support. These include Munich, Zurich, Geneva, Berlin and Stockholm. A number of conditions are attached to New Route Support. The destination is not yet offered by an airline that is active at Eindhoven Airport. The airline must fly to the destination at least twice a week throughout the year for at least three years. Destinations that are closer than 400 kilometers from Eindhoven Airport or that can be reached within four hours by train, bus or car are not eligible for New Route Support.

No extra slots
Eligibility for New Route Support is on a first-come, first-served basis, the airport reports. There are no additional slots available for New Route Support. This means that airlines that use New Route Support and therefore add a new destination to the NRS list will fly less frequently to a current destination or delete a current destination. The maximum permitted number of flight movements per year at/from Eindhoven Airport remains unchanged with the introduction of New Route Support.

From February 29, 2024, Transavia will fly at least three times a week between Eindhoven and Oslo.

Aviation Topics: Controversy Surrounding Schiphol Contraction and Lelystad Airport Opening

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com September 7, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Formally, it will not be voted on until September 12, but the I&W committee already drew up a list this morning of which topics should become controversial. Joost Eerdmans of JA21 proposed to set up the Schiphol contraction there as well, but there was no majority for that.

That comes as no surprise: insiders reported last week that the plans for Schiphol would probably not become controversial. A large majority supports them, including all left-wing parties and also the VVD and CDA.

The committee did decide to declare some other aviation topics, including the opening of Lelystad Airport and the airspace review, controversial. This means that a decision will only be made by a new cabinet.

For a long time, the aviation sector hoped that the House of Representatives would declare the contraction of Schiphol controversial. Now that that hasn’t happened, the fight against it isn’t over yet. Through the courts and the EU, the sector hopes to stop the contraction after all.

Improving Safety and Quality: Halving Schiphol’s Baggage Handlers

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com July 11, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Compared to other European airports, Schiphol has a relatively large number of baggage handlers. As a result, airline companies can choose from many options and costs remain low, says Harbers. On the other hand, according to the minister, this can also have negative consequences for quality and working conditions.

Last year, dissatisfaction with the working conditions at the handling companies and a shortage of personnel caused major problems at Schiphol. In the spring, baggage handlers went on wildcat strikes. That turned out to be the harbinger of a summer full of delays, long queues at the baggage check and travelers missing their flights.

The market for handling is not working optimally at the moment, Harbers reports on the basis of research he commissioned. According to the researchers, halving the number of handlers is the best way to improve safety, quality, effectiveness and efficiency. In that case, additional agreements must be made between Schiphol and the handling companies, they advise.

Harbers says he understands that the plans could have significant consequences for the baggage companies and their staff. That is why he wants to give interested parties the opportunity to respond to his proposal during a so-called consultation period. He does not want to make a final decision until the autumn. After that, a European tender will start to select future handling companies. The plan must be implemented by 2025.

The FNV says it is enthusiastic about the measure. “This is a good first step to put the quality of work above the price of personnel,” says the union. However, “enforceable social standards” must be agreed and clear agreements must be made to limit the workload.

The union also states that a transition to another employer can be difficult. That is why the plans in this regard should be laid down in more concrete terms. “The company that wins the tender must take over the personnel of other companies. While retaining the terms of employment. Clear additional agreements must be made about the transfer of undertaking,” continues FNV.

D66 wants to close Rotterdam The Hague Airport

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com January 15, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Unlike various other left-wing parties, such as GroenLinks and the Party for the Animals, D66 does not want to close the airport as quickly as possible, but wants to phase it out gradually. The doors of the terminal must be locked by 2040 at the latest.

By taking a little more time for the closure, D66 wants to ensure that there are enough alternatives available. Member of Parliament Jeroen Heuvelink explains in the AD that he is not only thinking of more train connections, but also of a hyperloop.

“We cannot continue like this. The airport causes a lot of noise nuisance in the surrounding neighborhoods, as well as a lot of CO2 emissions,” says Heuvelink. That is why, as far as D66 is concerned, there is no future for the Rotterdam airport.

Although political support for ‘Zestienhoven’, as the airport is popularly known, is crumbling, Rotterdam Airport is very popular with travelers. Last week was known that the airport is the first Dutch airport to have fully recovered from the corona crisis.

Two bodies found in the landing gear of the Avianca A320

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com January 8, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Flight AV116 had departed Santiago de Chile earlier in the day. According to official information from the Colombian Civil Aviation Authority, two people were found dead in the landing gear during the subsequent maintenance inspection.

The bodies found would have been frozen. Biden’s men may have already crawled on the landing gear earlier this month in the Dominican Republic.

It is more common for stowaways to resort to hiding in aircraft cargo holds or landing gear compartments, a fact that often leads to tragedies such as that of Avianca flight AV116.

Conny van den Hoff, the director of the airport, replies to the signed contract as follows: “I am very pleased that NL EASP AIR has chosen Den Helder as its headquarters. NL EASP AIR is the first commercial fixed wing operator to be established at Den Helder Airport. This leads to additional tasks and high quality work.”
