Bulgarian Football Rocked by Match-Fixing Allegations, Fifpro Official Confirms player Betting Ban
A scandal has erupted in Bulgarian football, prompting investigations into potential match manipulation. A member of teh board and First vice President of Fifpro,the world players’ union,has addressed the situation,confirming a strict ban on player betting related to their clubs.
The official stated that the issue of betting and participation in related actions is regularly discussed with team captains and players. Any professional football player under contract with a Bulgarian Championship club is prohibited from betting on matches involving their own team, other Bulgarian clubs in the First Professional Football League (PFL), or games where their club participates in international tournaments. Fifpro has offered assistance to all players affected by the unfolding scandal and strongly condemns any actions that could damage the integrity and reputation of Bulgarian football.
The comments come after allegations surfaced last week, triggering a wave of concern within the football community. The Fifpro representative emphasized the association’s opposition to any behavior that undermines the prestige of the sport in Bulgaria.
