The public prosecutor of Gard, Cécile Gensac, announced the opening of several investigations after the death of three people during storm Monica this weekend. Three other people are missing in this department hit by deadly floods, and a fourth in Ardèche. They “aim to determine the exact circumstances of the engulfments and deaths in this context of exceptional climatic episode”.

According to initial testimonies, the three deceased people tried to cross submersible bridges over flooded rivers. In Gagnières, the vehicle had taken this passage while the road was closed to traffic. A country guard would have directly asked the driver not to engage in it, without being listened to. One of the two people managed to escape from the vehicle, the other was unable to exit the vehicle which was swept away by the waves.

Autopsies starting this Monday

In Goudargues, two women died in their car. “The investigations are carried out on the head of worrying disappearances at the stage of the search for missing persons, then on the head of research into the causes of death from the discovery of deceased persons,” specifies the prosecutor.

The autopsies of the deceased will be carried out starting this Monday at the Nîmes forensic institute. “Scientific investigations will aim to confirm the identity of the people found as well as the exact cause of death. »

Cotelle Factory Closure Sparks Outcry: Employees Fight to Save Their Jobs

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com February 19, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

A first demonstration took place in front of the gates of the Cotelle factory in Rillieux-la-Pape last week. But the employees have since returned to their jobs. Personal collection

The Colgate-Palmolive group announced to the 104 permanent employees at the Cotelle factory in Rillieux-la-Pape that the site would close its doors in September 2024, sparking an outcry, including from the LR MP for the constituency. .

Le Figaro Lyon

120 years since the Cotelle factory in Rillieux-la-Pape has been packaging bleach in the white and green cartons known to all. To the point of being today the last in France in this segment. It even owned the brand until its acquisition by Colgate-Palmolive at the end of the 1980s. After several years of declining activity, the American group ended up announcing the closure of the site in the Lyon suburbs. The 104 permanent employees and some temporary workers are now fighting to avoid the fateful date of September 2024, and the definitive shutdown of the production lines.

“On-site staff have been reporting declines in manufacturing volumes for years. We asked for advertising campaigns and new productions, in vain”, traces Jean Martins, CGT union delegate. The French brand competes with those of distributors, manufactured by the rival McBride, but also other products. “The only response from management to maintain their margin was to increase prices, so customers will look elsewhere”, he continues. Today, the volumes of Javel and Soupline packaged on the Rilliarde lines are at their lowest. And as Palmolive is also Cotelle’s only client, the American management announced its closure during an extraordinary CSE held on January 31. The activity must be taken over by McBride factories in Belgium and Brittany.

“Cotelle is not a factory that is closing for bankruptcychokes Christian Dupoizat, CGT representative on the Social and Economic Committee (CSE). It has no loss, it reaps profits – 1.8 million in 2021 and 1.7 in 2022, and 2.1 in 2023 – which are systematically redistributed as dividends.. In 2020, they were even higher, supported by significant demand during the Covid pandemic. “We produced at 130%, we were invested in the same way as the nurses, because the product we produced saved people from Covid, recalls Jean Martinsand today we are being thrown away like trash, people are very upset”.

“Everyone maintains the production tool”

A first demonstration took place in front of the factory gates last week. But the employees have since returned to their jobs. “They are at work, everyone maintains the production toolresumes Jean Martins. Staff are affected by their job loss in September, but until then we cannot afford to stay at the gate”. Enough to support the proposal made by the unions for the takeover of the site and machines by McBride. “Our goal is that everyone can continue to work on site”, says Christian Dupoizat. The unions are currently refusing to come to the negotiating table. And suggest a possible hardening of the tone. “The pressure will gradually increase for families between now and September, observe Jean Martins. Today, we are in very nice demonstrations, but if we are not listened to, we will have to make sure that we are, like farmers ».

They received the support of the mayor of Rillieux and his predecessor, Alexandre Vincendet, now LR deputy for the constituency. The latter wrote to Bruno Le Maire to ask him to follow the file. He is expected to visit the site in the coming days. A meeting is planned with employees and union officials at the end of the month. How to prevent the 104 employees from reporting to Pôle emploi at the start of the next school year? Not sure… especially since the average age is 54 in the workforce and more than 26 years of seniority. Not necessarily enough to approach a job search calmly. “We were a family business that knew how to maintain this DNA. There were plants in the break rooms, the factory was a part of people’s lives, their second home. But with the takeover by Colgate, all that was dismantled little by little. regrets Christian Dupoizat. As with Casino in Saint-Étienne, the union delegate sees the end of this “family capitalism”.

Montpellier vs OL: Follow the Live Coverage of Ligue 1 Showdown and CAN Final

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com February 11, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Hello Minutos, we will head gently towards the end of a weekend very rich in live sports, when we will meet at the end of the afternoon for this Montpellier-OL. Although, after this penultimate poster of the 21st day of Ligue 1, we will continue on 20 Minutes with the live of the CAN final between Ivory Coast and Nigeria (9 p.m.), then Adrien will have the pleasure to take over to deliver the legendary Super Bowl to you from 12:30 a.m. Quite a program, isn’t it? In the meantime, we’re going to immerse you in this match which on paper only pits the 13th against the 15th.

Yes, but you know a lot of 15ths who are facing a winter transfer window with seven recruits and 56 million euros, do you? Honestly, OL’s last two successes in their stadium against OM (1-0) and Lille (2-1) were not far from being night and day compared to the disastrous course of this team on the first leg. We are therefore very curious to see if Pierre Sage will manage to maintain this dynamic at Mosson, while he is now spoiled for choice in a squad with strong competition, especially in the middle and in attack.

>> Join us from 4:45 p.m. to experience the pre-match, before kick-off at 5:05 p.m.

Two fires broke out in two separate buildings, in this town adjoining Lyon. One of the victims, 80% burned, jumped out of the window.

Our colleagues from Progress describe “a scene of horror”. Two people were seriously burned during the night from Saturday to Sunday, in the fire of two separate buildings in Villeurbanne, we learned Le Figaro of the departmental and metropolitan fire and rescue service (SDMIS) confirming information from the Lyon daily. Two fires broke out in the entrance halls of two adjoining buildings. According to a prefectural source, the origin of the disaster was voluntary. An investigation was opened and entrusted to departmental security.

Fire and smoke spread through the stairwells and upstairs. A 69-year-old resident suffered burns on 20% of her body, and a 57-year-old man suffered 80% burns. The latter jumped out of the window, probably to escape the flames. The two victims were transported in a state of absolute emergency to hospitals in the Lyon region. Four people are also in a state of relative emergency, apparently inconvenienced by the smoke. In total, 50 people were affected.

The fire broke out around 1:15 a.m. at 191 rue Léon-Blum. At the height of the operations, 22 fire engines were mobilized, in addition to the Samu. Investigators are still trying to identify the perpetrator(s) of this fire. No arrests have been made at this stage. According to Progress, 40 residents of the two buildings were evacuated. Some of them were temporarily relocated to a gymnasium.

Returning to communications consulting after being removed from the government last summer following the Marianne fund fiasco, Marlène Schiappa announced her enrollment in the famous Lyon management school.

Le Figaro Lyon

“Happy to have validated my registration today”. Former minister and secretary of state in the governments of Emmanuel Macron, Marlène Schiappa will join theEM Lyon Business school. She announced that she was joining the famous Lyon management school and its 9,000 students in a message published on the professional social network LinkedIn.

“I have always believed that one must train throughout one’s life, presents the former Minister Delegate in charge of Citizenship. Knowledge evolves, so does theory, the issues vary, and having been trained 10, 20, 30 years ago in a given field should no longer be considered sufficient today. Confronting yourself with advances, knowledge, speakers and professors always brings new intellectual wealth. »

Distance learning from Paris

After listing the different training courses carried out throughout her professional career, Marlène Schiappa gives, LinkedIn obliges, a little anecdote on a training course in geopolitics that she would have followed “in secret” upon his arrival in government, “with diplomats”, “without going to a classroom”. “We remember how Jean-Baptiste Djebbari had been criticized for having started an MBAshe continues. On the contrary, we should have welcomed the approach, right?

Dismissed during the reshuffle last July following a senatorial report pinpointing her role in the Marianne fund fiasco, Marlène Schiappa has since become a partner in a Parisian communications consultancy firm. The many students who reacted to his message do not get too carried away, the ex-minister will follow the training remotely. And should therefore not pass through the campus, which is preparing to move to the 7th arrondissement of Lyon.
