Nadal Open โtoโ Federer Exhibition, But Sets Timeline for โReturn
Manacor, Spain โค- November 21, 2023 – Rafael Nadal has indicated openness toโ aโ potential exhibition tour with Roger Federer, but cautioned that both players need adequate โฃpreparation before returning to competitive play.The comments, made following Federer’s โฃexpressedโ interest โin the possibility, suggest a future encounter isn’t off the table, though it won’t be immediate.
Nadal, recently honored with the AS โLegend Award 2025,โฃ acknowledged a strong relationshipโ with โฃFederer and believes an chance will eventually arise.โ “It’s possible. Youโข never know,” nadal stated, adding, “I have a great relationship with Roger; we talk regularly. I think eventually there will be an opportunity.” Though, he emphasized the need for โคsufficient training given both players’ recent time away from the court.
Federer, in a November 19th interview with the Daily Gazette,โ alluded to “some โgreat things that could come” from a joint exhibition. Nadal confirmed he’s only managed 45 minutes of play on โtwo separate days in the past year, while Federer appears further along โฃin his preparation, with plansโค for competition as early as January.
“To get back on court without it being a disaster would take me โฃsome time,” Nadal explained. He also stated, “I already โsaid in ourโ last conversation that if something needs to be done, โคhe shouldโ let me know a little in advance. I shouldn’t make a fool of myself on the track. โคIf โthe opportunity presents itself, let’s make it somethingโค fun for both of us, something good.”
