NASA Announces All-American Class of Astronaut Candidates for 2025 Promotion
WASHINGTON – NASA today unveiled ten new astronaut candidates, all U.S. citizens, selected fromโฃ a highly competitive pool to join its ranks and contribute to the agencyS enterprising goals ofโค lunar and Martian exploration. The announcement marks a significant โฃstep in bolstering NASA’s human โขspaceflight capabilities as โit prepares for a new era ofโ discovery.
This selection brings the total โคnumber ofโ astronaut candidates chosen by NASA since the original “Mercury Seven” in 1959 โขto 370. The incoming โclass represents a diverse range of backgrounds and expertise, including pilots, โengineers, and scientists, poised to contribute to groundbreakingโข research and missions. Theโข candidates will undergo intensive training,preparing โthem for potential assignments onโ the Artemis program,future missions to the Moon,and eventual journeysโ to Mars.
Among the selected is aโฃ graduate of the United States Marine Test Pilot School who served as a project officer for UH-1 and AH-1Z airplanes and coordinator of the โAH-1W platform during its active duty. At the time of her selection, โขshe was the director of flight test โengineering at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation.
