Thailand Addresses Household Debt & Sees Economic ⁣Improvement

thailand⁢ is tackling a significant household⁣ debt burden affecting 3.4 million people, totaling over 122 ​billion baht. The⁢ Economic Cabinet is focused on finding ‍fair and sustainable solutions,particularly⁣ for small debtors of non-bank lenders and ⁢other‌ creditors,prioritizing a debtor-centric approach. A key component of this strategy is ⁣the development of a comprehensive⁤ household debt database, encompassing all financial service providers and incorporating both conventional and alternative data sources.This aims to provide all relevant sectors with‍ complete information for accurate⁤ credit‌ risk assessment, perhaps utilizing the Ministry of Finance’s developing “Ari Score” as ‌an alternative credit scoring tool.

Farmers’ Debt Relief Through BAAC AMC

Specific measures are being developed for the agricultural sector and Small and ⁤Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The bank for Agriculture and Agricultural⁢ Cooperatives (BAAC) ⁢is establishing an⁤ Asset Management Company (AMC)‍ by November to manage non-performing farmer loans. This initiative⁢ intends​ to assist approximately 100,000 farmers burdened⁤ with ⁢over 7,000-8,000 million baht in debt through ⁢restructuring options like principal‌ reduction, ‌extended repayment periods, and facilitating re-entry‍ into the credit system. This builds upon existing government debt relief efforts. Plans for SME debt relief are ⁤currently being finalized.

Positive GDP Forecast ‍for Q4

The Thai economy⁤ is showing signs of recovery. The Ministry of Finance projects a⁣ 1.1% GDP expansion⁢ in‍ the fourth quarter of the year, an‌ increase from the previously estimated 0.3%. This positive ⁢revision ​is attributed to recent economic ⁤stimulus measures, notably ⁢the “Half-Half Plus” project, ⁤increased government spending, and budget disbursement.

As‌ of November 10, 2025, at 5:00 ⁣p.m., the ⁣”Half-Half Plus”‌ project has⁣ seen 19.62⁢ million prosperous participants out of ⁤a total of 20 million eligible recipients.total ​spending through⁣ the project has reached 28,794 million baht,distributed across ​820,449 participating stores,resulting in 203.99 million ⁤transactions. The Ministry of Finance is urging remaining eligible citizens to initiate spending by November 11, ‍2025, at 11:00 p.m. ⁤to avoid forfeiting their participation. unused ⁤funds from ‌this phase will be considered for use⁢ in future project iterations.

Food Delivery Spending within “Half-Half Plus”

Spending ⁢through food delivery ⁢services within the‌ “Half-Half plus”​ project has reached 360 million baht from 1.31 million users. LINEMAN leads in spending with 215 million baht, followed by Grab at 127 ‌million baht.‌ ShopeeFood recorded⁤ 17 million baht ⁣in spending, and Robinhood accounted for 6.1 million baht.
