French tech firm Altyk has begun shipping a second generation of mini-PCs, moving beyond the Intel N100 and N305 processors that powered its initial offerings. The new models feature Intel Core i5-1240P and Core i7-1280P chips, representing a significant performance upgrade, according to the company.
The Altyk Le Mini PC – F2-I516-N05, equipped with the Core i5-1240P, measures 115mm x 115mm x 40mm and weighs approximately 570 grams. This compact form factor, slightly smaller than the first generation, belies a more powerful processor boasting 12 cores (4 performance cores and 8 efficient cores) and 12MB of smart cache. The system includes 16GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and a 480GB NVMe SSD. It supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, and runs Microsoft Windows 11.
While the first generation Altyk mini-PCs were noted for their simplicity and affordability, some users found the processing power limiting. The new generation aims to address this, particularly for users running multiple virtual machines or demanding applications. Altyk has maintained a minimalist aesthetic, offering the second-generation PCs in a darker, anthracite finish to distinguish them from the original white models.
Connectivity on the F2-I516-N05 includes a 2.5GbE RJ45 port, two HDMI 2.0 ports supporting 4K output at 60Hz, a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port (also supporting Power Delivery 3.0 and display output), two USB-A 2.0 ports, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Altyk has opted for a USB-C connection for the external power brick, a move praised for its adherence to European standards and increased versatility. The power brick itself measures 130mm x 58mm x 32mm and weighs around 300 grams, accounting for nearly half the total system weight.
The mini-PC also features a ClearCMOS button and a system recovery button, as well as a Kensington lock slot. Notably, Altyk has not included any USB4 ports, citing a lack of official support from Intel.
Altyk continues its policy of minimal accessories, including only the power brick, power cable, VESA mount, and a basic instruction manual in the box. The company does not offer optional accessories or include a display cable.
Testing of the F2-I516-N05 revealed a processor capable of achieving a score of 2252 in Cinebench 2026’s multi-thread test. PCMark scores were also strong, with a total score of 5201. However, integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics with 80 execution units limited gaming performance. Forza Horizon 5 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider were unplayable at 1280×720 resolution even with graphics settings minimized, averaging only 25 images per second. The system performed better with less demanding indie titles.
The system maintained relatively cool operating temperatures, with the Core i5-1240P peaking at 82°C under load and the SSD reaching 51°C. The cooling fan remained quiet during testing. Power consumption reached 67.8 watts under full load, and typically ranged between 35 and 45 watts during normal use.
The second-generation Altyk mini-PCs are currently available for purchase, with the F2-I516-N05 model priced at €799.95 with Windows 11 Family and €869.95 with Windows 11 Pro. Models equipped with the Core i7-1280P processor range from €929.95 to €1219.95 depending on RAM and Windows edition.
