Ricarda Lang Degree: Söder’s Joke Shut Down by Law Student

Green Politician Ricarda Lang Earns Law Degree, Challenges Söder‘s Past Remarks

Berlin – Ricarda Lang, a prominent figure in the German Green Party, has completed her law studies at Humboldt University in Berlin, prompting‍ a pointed response ⁤to previous ⁤criticisms from CSU leader Markus Söder. Lang announced her achievement on Instagram, sharing a ⁣photo ⁣of herself with a Bachelor of ⁣Laws degree.

The completion⁣ of her degree arrives as a ‌direct‍ rejoinder to Söder, who in a past speech, ⁤quipped that‌ his dog, Molly, was better trained than⁣ Lang. The‌ incident sparked public debate and criticism, with many viewing Söder’s remark as dismissive. Lang has now publicly challenged Söder to “think of new jokes,” releasing a video clip referencing his comment alongside her announcement.

Lang, 31, posted a‍ photo to her Instagram account displaying her name and the title “Bachelor of Laws” beneath it, alongside a smiling portrait with a flower. She intends to ‌continue her education, planning to pursue a master’s degree at fernuni Hagen, as reported by ⁣ Bild. ‍”As⁢ an inevitable result, I am less dependent on politics in my future professional planning,” Lang told the newspaper. The move signals a potential diversification of⁣ her career path beyond her current political role.

The ⁤exchange highlights the frequently enough-contentious relationship between the Green party and the CSU, ⁣particularly as‍ Germany ⁤navigates complex environmental and political ⁣challenges. Lang’s academic achievement offers a tangible response to Söder’s earlier jab⁣ and underscores her commitment ‍to⁣ intellectual pursuits alongside her political career.

Corona pandemic: traffic lights fail due to processing

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com October 8, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The traffic light coalition wanted to review the Corona policy. But that probably won’t happen anymore. She has already fallen out over the format.

The Greens no longer expect that the traffic light coalition can agree on dealing with Corona. “To my great regret, I now have to realize that there is no common agreement between the SPD and FDP on the question of how this process should take place,” said Green Party parliamentary group leader Katharina Dröge on Tuesday in Berlin. “We would have been completely open to any format.”

The Greens were therefore prepared to go along with everything in the end, said Dröge, “The main thing is that there is a clear message to people in this country that the German Bundestag will begin to come to terms with it during this legislative period.”

However, it was not possible for the coalition to reach a common position, said Dröge. She could appeal for a common solution to be found, but: “Unfortunately, we don’t have that at the moment.”

The coalition recently felt that an agreement had to be reached in these weeks so that it could still make sense to work through the matter before the elections in autumn 2025. However, there is now a lack of belief in other factions that this will still work.

From the beginning there was a dispute about the correct format. The FDP wanted a study commission, a kind of investigative committee made up of politicians and experts. The SPD with Chancellor Olaf Scholz had called for a citizens’ assembly – in order to involve people in the process, but also because there was concern about a “tribunal against individual ministers”.

According to t-online information, there have recently been considerations in the traffic light to do both: citizens’ council and study commission. But in the end, the SPD and FDP got stuck over the question of how a study commission should be staffed. The FDP was therefore skeptical as to whether and which state representatives should be there and at least wanted the federal government to have the last word. The SPD didn’t want it that way.

Incident with Baerbock jn New York affects Russian journalists

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com October 3, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

A Russian journalist apparently harassed Foreign Minister Baerbock with questions at the UN headquarters in New York. This now has consequences.

Event at a press conference with the German Foreign Minister Anna Baerbock during the UN general debate New York he has an influence on a Russian journalist. “The journalist’s actions were in violation of media access guidelines,” the United Nations’ Accreditation Department said, and his access clearance was downgraded.

The background was an incident with a TV journalist from Russian state television. He went to Baerbock on UN grounds last week and asked her a question on her way to a media briefing. The Foreign Minister did not answer and referred to the upcoming press conference. The reporter continued to follow the Green politician, as shown by photos and journalists who were present.

Finally, he stood next to Baerbock, who was getting ready to make her statement. The Foreign Minister then cheerfully asked the man to join other media representatives so that the press conference could begin. The journalist then left the press conference.

The UN confirmed that the journalist could continue to do his work in the building and that he would not be denied access. The United Nations has various permissions for reporters that affect access to the site.

Treated as “resident correspondents” known as UN staff, they do not need to be checked at the entrance and can move freely throughout large parts of the building. “Non-resident correspondents” – the current status of a Russian TV journalist – on the other hand, must pass through a security gate every time they visit the site and are their clear access restrictions to UN headquarters.

According to his own statements, Russia’s UN Ambassador Vasily Nebenzya complained to Secretary-General António Guterres about the sanction against the journalist and asked that the decision be made. to turn back. The reporter did not harass Baerbock or misbehave in any other way. He described a crush by a member of the German delegation during what happened as an “invasion” of Russia. The Foreign Office did not comment publicly on the request.

Russian media had published a video in which a man with a microphone could be seen approaching Baerbock as she walked across the UN building. He is asked to stay back, but at first he still pushes towards the minister. It appears that he is then held back by an employee or security guard.

Education in Alpirsbach Progymnasium sets the course for G9

Beginning of self-awareness: The Chancellor seems to have understood

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com November 25, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

It’s easy to scoff at the traffic light coalition at the moment. Who is at fault… The ruling on the application of the debt brake from Karlsruhe came from Olaf Scholz’s government like what economists call an exogenous shock, i.e. an external event that suddenly and unexpectedly changes reality permanently.

The Tagesspiegel app Current news, background information and analyzes directly to your smartphone. Plus the digital newspaper. Download for free here.

Article 115 of the Basic Law states that loans in excess of the debt brake may be taken out in the event of natural disasters and in “extraordinary emergency situations that are beyond the state’s control and significantly affect the state’s financial situation.” The latter, at least, actually happened with the ruling of the Federal Constitutional Court. The traffic light coalition is currently in a hectic process of readjusting its entire budget policy.

Albert Funk is responsible for financial issues in the Tagesspiegel’s capital office and believes that the debt strategy was a collective failure.

Of course, the emergency that is now to be declared for 2023 is not an exceptional emergency, not an exogenous shock, but simply the result of a government emergency. Justifying them in terms of energy policy is undoubtedly a challenge. It will be interesting to see what will be in the proposal that Finance Minister Christian Lindner will bring to the cabinet at the beginning of the week. And there must be an incontestable justification, that’s what Karlsruhe demanded.

“The coalition of losers is effectively at an end” CSU general calls for change with SPD or new election

Since 2020, those in power have stretched the various credit-financed protective shields very widely. In no emergency year did the credit authorizations created due to the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, energy price inflation and the Ahr Valley flood have to be fully used.

170

billion Euros were still available in the WSF this year.

That was the basis of the careless plan to stash the unused opportunities and reserve them for other purposes, as a reserve for the time after the acute emergency, on the grounds that emergencies have a long-lasting effect. But it’s no longer that easy after the Karlsruhe ruling.

Because of the energy crisis that had clearly occurred, 200 billion euros were placed in the Economic Stabilization Fund (WSF) at the end of last year. Of this, around 170 billion euros were still available for this year. 40 billion are now needed. In this respect, the question arises as to how serious the energy crisis will still be with a view to 2024.

Anyone who wants to explain the emergency situation for the coming year must be able to argue very well in order to overcome the hurdle of the detailed and comprehensible explanation set by the Constitutional Court.

After the initial shock, the traffic light quickly entered the phase of holding out slogans and forming a wagon fort. This is usually followed by the phase of self-knowledge and insight into reality. This was shown in the Chancellor’s video message on Friday. Olaf Scholz avoided as much as possible to commit to the fact that the federal budget for 2024 will now be passed through the Bundestag and Bundesrat before the end of the year.

The Basic Law makes it possible to act later

Scholz said that the budget for next year would be “revised carefully in the light of the judgment – quickly, but with due care.” And that will take a few weeks if you want a proper legislative process. The risk that a revision could be challenged in the Hopplahopp procedure in Karlsruhe is not small. Ultimately, every single member of the Bundestag who feels that their rights to advice and information have been violated can do this.

So it will probably be the end of January, or even February, until the Bundestag and then the Bundesrat decide on the 2024 budget. That wouldn’t be bad. The Basic Law enables the federal government to continue to operate fairly properly on the basis of the old budget.

The traffic light coalition has been shaken up by the Karlsruhe ruling in a way that probably no federal government has ever seen before. Blaming is unnecessary. The unconstitutionality of a debt strategy that was questionable from the start was a collective failure of the cabinet members of the SPD, Greens and FDP.

More on the topic at Tagesspiegel Plus

At the expense of climate protection Which projects could fall victim to the Karlsruhe ruling An emergency – but what kind? How the traffic light budget crisis could continue Consequences of the budget crisis The German economy is facing a severe setback

That’s why it seems a little pathetic to now dismiss a state secretary. Scholz & Co. are currently a government on probation. The Chancellor sent the first signs of recognizing this on Friday.
