Vietnamese music Gains Global Edge Through International Collaboration & Cutting-Edge Technology
Hanoi, Vietnam – A wave of Vietnamese artists are elevating their sound with collaborations with world-renowned audio engineers and the adoption of advanced audio technologies, signaling a new era for the nation’s music industry and boosting its international profile. From mastering albums with Grammy-winning professionals to deploying immersive 3D sound systems at live concerts, vietnamese musicians are investing in quality to reach wider audiences. The trend reflects a growing ambition to compete on the global stage. Van Mai Huong recently partnered with Randy Merrill - known for his work with taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and Adele – for her single “Uot long,” a precursor to her fifth studio album.Huong noted the process required three attempts to achieve a satisfactory master due to differing market tastes, stating, “Randy is very careful with his voice, it feels as if he doesn’t miss a dust while singing.”
Prior to Huong, Hoang Quyen collaborated with Tim der kuil – guitarist and music director for Adele and Sia - mastering her album “A Diary of Melody” at Abbey Road Studios in London. Singer Hong Nhung also worked with sound expert Mark Levinson on her track “You me,” and previously on the LP “Who is Bong?” Nhung believes these collaborations increase international recognition, stating, “Hong Nhung may not know the audience abroad, but Mark Levinson is very famous. You will be curious to hear a work of this artist. This makes Vietnamese music better known abroad.”
Beyond mastering, live performances are also benefiting from technological advancements. At a recent concert in Hanoi, Hoang Dung utilized L-ISA 3D sound technology – a system also employed by artists like adele, Katy Perry, and Hans Zimmer – creating a extensive and realistic sound field for the audience, regardless of their location within the venue.
