MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – november 1, 2025 – Google isโ substantially expanding the reach of its AI Mode, adding support for Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, adn Brazilian Portuguese. The update, โannounced today, breaks the feature’s six-month limitation to โคEnglishโค and brings AI-powered search capabilities toโข users in a wider range of global markets.
Launched initially as an experiment for Googleโข One โคAI Premium subscribers in March, AI Mode represents Google’s direct response to โemerging AI search platforms like Perplexity and OpenAI’s ChatGPT Search. The featureโข leverages a customized version of Gemini โ2.5, offering multimodal andโ reasoning capabilitiesโค to provide moreโค extensive answers to complex queries.
The โexpansion follows a rolloutโ to โค180 new โmarketsโ in English last month, after initial availability in the โU.S., U.K., and India. “With โคthis expansion, more people can now use AI Mode to ask complex questions in their preferred language, while โฃexploring theโฃ web more deeply,” stated Hema Budaraju,โค VP of Product Management at Google Search, in a blog post.
Google has also been introducing agentic features within AI Mode, beginning withโค restaurant reservation finding in August, with plans to add support for local service appointments and event ticket bookings. Theseโฃ advanced capabilities are currently limited to Google AI โUltra subscribers inโค the U.S. andโ are accessible through the “Agentic capabilities in AI Mode” experiment in Labs, costing $249.99โฃ per month.
Currently accessible via a dedicated tab on searchโ resultsโฃ pages and a button in โคthe search bar, Google appears to be moving towards makingโ AI โคMode the โdefault search experienceโ “soon,” โคaccording to Logan Kilpatrick, group โฃproduct manager at Google DeepMind.
The rollout of โGoogle’s AIโ features, including AI Mode โคandโข AI Overviews, has faced scrutiny regardingโ potential impacts on search โclicks, though Google has denied claims that theseโ features are negatively affecting websiteโข traffic.
