Aydın, Turkey – Authorities in Aydın province have initiated urgent quarantine measures following the detection of foot and mouth disease (FMD) in the nazilli district. the outbreak has prompted swift action to contain the highly contagious virus affecting livestock.
34 Neighborhoods Under Quarantine
The District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry announced the implementation of quarantine protocols across 34 neighborhoods within the Nazilli district.The measures were initiated after the disease was first identified in the İsabeyli neighborhood.
Specifically, İsabeyli and Ocaklı neighborhoods have been designated as “protection zones,” while Bozyurt, Çobanlar, Dereağzı, Dallıca, Eycelli, Hasköy, Kavacık, Arslanlı, Samailli, and Yaylapınar neighborhoods, along with an additional 22 neighborhoods in the central area of Nazilli, have been classified as “surveillance zones.” Quarantine restrictions are now in effect in all designated areas.
Strict Movement Restrictions and Artificial Insemination halt
Under the quarantine order, the movement of cattle and sheep into and out of the affected neighborhoods is strictly prohibited. Moreover, artificial insemination procedures have been suspended in İsabeyli and Ocaklı until the outbreak is fully resolved. Authorities have warned that legal action will be taken against individuals who violate these regulations.
