A crowdfunding campaign for Valerion’s 4K laser projector, the VisionMaster Max, concluded on Makuake, raising 320 million yen (approximately $2.1 million USD) from 698 backers, according to a press release issued by Elevation Technology Partners LLC on March 3, 2026.
The VisionMaster Max, a long-focus model from Valerion, a sub-brand of AWOL Vision, initially gained attention through a Kickstarter campaign where it secured over 1.6 billion yen in funding. The Makuake project offered the projector at a discounted price of 450,000 yen, a 41% reduction from the planned retail price of 792,646 yen, with a promise of delivery by the end of January 2026.
Valerion will now transition to a full-scale domestic rollout in Japan, beginning with a limited-time campaign for its VisionMaster series (excluding the Max model) and StreamMaster series. Amazon Japan will offer special pricing from March 3rd to March 9th, while Rakuten will run a similar promotion from March 4th to March 10th. Following these promotions, the VisionMaster Max is slated for general release in April 2026 through the official Valerion website, Amazon.co.jp, and Rakuten.
The VisionMaster Max features Valerion’s NoirScene system, designed to deliver high-contrast imagery through a combination of EBL (Enhanced Black Level) technology, a 6-stage precision iris, and a black coating structure to minimize light reflection. This system aims to achieve a contrast ratio of 50,000:1 and consistent brightness levels. The projector also incorporates Anti-RBE technology to mitigate the rainbow effect commonly associated with DLP projectors.
Other Valerion models available in the upcoming campaign include the VisionMaster Pro2, which offers 3,000 ISO lumens of brightness and optical zoom capabilities.
