Panic Button Assisted Nintendo in Optimizing Beloved Switch Titles for Switch 2
REDMOND, WA – November 15, 2024 – In a surprising reveal, Panic Button, the studio known for its high-profile game ports, announced today that it collaborated with nintendo to deliver performance enhancements to several key Nintendo Switch titles on the newly released Switch 2 console.The updates, wich launched alongside the new hardware earlier this year, brought improvements like boosted frame rates, increased resolution, and High Dynamic Range (HDR) support to select frist-party games.
Notably, the work wasn’t handled entirely by Nintendo’s internal teams. Panic Button confirmed its involvement in updating New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, and ARMS.
“Panic Button was honored to be selected by Nintendo to help update marquee games from the Nintendo Switch library,” the studio stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “Nintendo asked us to help demonstrate new capabilities of the Nintendo Switch 2 system, while remaining faithful to the original games.”
Panic Button rose to prominence during the Nintendo Switch lifecycle, successfully porting demanding titles such as Doom and Doom Eternal, Apex Legends, and Subnautica to the platform. This latest collaboration underscores Nintendo’s continued trust in the studio’s technical expertise.
