RICHMOND, VA – The Richmond Spiders women’s swimming and diving team is poised for a strong showing this season, having been selected second in the Atlantic 10 preseason Poll released Wednesday. The team’s anticipated success builds on a stellar performance at last year’s A-10 Championships, where they secured second place overall.
The Spiders’ ranking reflects their returning talent and recent achievements.Richmond finished as the A-10 runner-up in 2023, highlighted by eight medal finishes-including gold medals in the 200-medley relay, 200-free relay, 400-free relay, and the 50 free.This season, the team will rely on the scoring power of returning A-10 Championship standouts lena Amare, Gabbie primiano, Presley Baber, and Katie Chignell.
George Washington topped the poll, receiving seven of the ten first-place votes and totaling 97 points. Richmond garnered two first-place votes and accumulated 90 points to secure the second position. Duquesne followed in third with 83 points.
