Lafayette Swimming and Diving Earns Multiple Victories Against ⁢Lehigh

EASTON, PA ‌- The Lafayette Collage swimming ⁤and‌ diving teams delivered strong performances against ​Lehigh University‍ in their annual dual meet, securing⁢ numerous top-three ⁤finishes across both ‌disciplines. The competition, held Saturday, showcased‍ both veteran leadership and promising talent‌ from the Leopards.

This rivalry meet marks a key early-season test ⁢for both programs, providing⁣ a benchmark for progress​ as they approach championship season. The results offer valuable insight into‍ team strengths and areas for enhancement, influencing ⁤training strategies in the‌ weeks ahead. Lafayette’s divers will⁣ next compete ⁣at the Retriever Diving Invite at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County on December 6th.

Junior Ethan ​Brice led the‍ men’s ⁣swimming‍ contingent with third-place finishes‍ in the 100-yard⁢ backstroke ⁢(57.80) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:23.55),‍ alongside ⁢sophomore Meghan Robinson, who mirrored his success on the⁤ women’s side. ‌Junior​ Abigail ‌Bebel dominated in distance events, achieving​ third ⁤place in⁣ both​ the 200-yard butterfly and ‌400 IM with times of 2:07.45⁣ and 4:36.07, respectively.Junior Natalie Johnson also secured two ​third-place finishes ‌in the‍ 50-yard freestyle (24.25) and 100-yard butterfly (57.39).

Lafayette’s diving team⁢ proved particularly strong, ‍with junior Landon Orth sweeping‌ the 1- and 3-meter‍ dives, scoring 303.83 and 296.25. His teammate, Trey Telleen, followed closely behind, earning second‌ in the 1-meter (259.35) and third in the 3-meter (243.98).Senior ⁣Peter Curtis added to the Leopard’s diving success with a second-place finish on the 3-meter (273.23) and⁣ third on⁢ the 1-meter (258.98).

Freshman Justin Tucker made an immediate impact, claiming second in both the 200 ‍fly ⁤(1:51.46) and 400 IM (4:01.62). Fellow freshman Leo Frein, senior Sean‌ McManus, and junior Alexander Reihl each contributed a third-place finish in‍ the 100 back ​(49.96), ​200 fly (1:52.78), and ⁣50 free ‌(20.79),‌ respectively.
