“I have kidney failure. I had a cancerous tumor on one kidney. The other kidney is fading very quickly because of die… I’m on dialysis,” Perry said, as reported by winknews.com.

WINK News staff recognized an immediate parallel among attendees. Just a month prior, Jerry Burton attended the inaugural WINK Listens event specifically carrying a plan to bridge the gap between organ donors and patients needing transplants.

“So that here’s a lady right now that’s really need, and I can bring up a name and say, here’s a lady right now to really use a kidney, guys. So we need someone to step up to the plate,” Burton said.

“It’s been almost five years, since I haven’t had to go every other day and sit in a chair, I haven’t left Naples in that time because I’ve got to be close,” Perry said.

The timeline for the medical procedure is set for the coming days. The unidentified donor enters surgery first this week. Perry checks into the hospital the following day, with the transplant operation scheduled for the day after that.
