PARIS – Nintendo is bringing the critically acclaimed Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 to the Nintendo switch on October 2, 2025. The compilation, titled Super Mario galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2,will feature adapted controls for the Switch, including optional Joy-Con support mirroring the original Wii motion controls.
originally released on the Wii in 2007 and 2010 respectively, both Super Mario Galaxy and super Mario Galaxy 2 are 3D platformers centered around Mario’s quest to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser, who has seized control of the universe by stealing its stars.Players navigate galaxies comprised of multiple planets to recover the stolen stars and save the princess.
These releases are ports, not remasters, meaning the core gameplay remains unchanged, with improvements focused on updated controls and graphics. Nintendo Switch owners can expect a 1080p experience in docked mode.
A free update will be available for owners of the forthcoming Nintendo Switch 2,enabling 4K resolution and a 120 FPS frame rate in docked mode.
The compilation will also include new content: additional chapters for the Harmony book, a 72-track soundtrack accessible at any time, and an assisted difficulty mode designed to make the games more accessible to younger players.
