Super Mario Drug Seizure: 32 Packages Found in Panama Container

Panama Authorities Seize 32 Packages of Suspected Drugs Marked with ‘Super Mario’ Imagery

Panama City, Panama – National aeronaval Service (Senan) agents intercepted ‍32 packages of alleged illegal⁣ substances hidden ‌within a refrigerated container at a ‍Pacific port terminal. The cargo originated in San Vicente, Chile, was transiting ‌through Panama, and destined for Sydney, Australia. ‌

The drugs were concealed within ⁢the cooling panels of the container.‌ Authorities were‍ alerted to the irregularity through aeronaval intelligence and coordinated with the Panama Drug Prosecutor⁢ for a search. Notably, the packages were marked with the iconic character from the “Super Mario” video game franchise-a tactic commonly used by⁢ drug traffickers to⁢ identify their shipments.

This seizure ‍brings Senan’s ⁤total drug packages confiscated to 35,447 as the beginning of 2024, recovered⁢ through 88 operations nationwide.

“Each operation reinforces ‍security in the national territory and demonstrates that drug trafficking always remains a step back when you run⁢ into the law,” stated Senan officials.

The investigation ‌is ongoing.
