Film festival Watch: 9 Sundance Institute-Supported Films Headed to the 2025 Toronto International film Festival
Toronto – Nine films nurtured through the Sundance Institute’s various labs and programs will make their premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, signaling continued strong support for autonomous filmmaking. The projects represent a diverse range of voices and narratives,showcasing the Institute’s commitment to discovering and fostering emerging talent.
Among the highlights is If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, selected for the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, which follows Linda as she confronts a collapsing life-a child’s illness, an absent husband, a missing person, and a fraught therapeutic relationship.
Also screening is Levers, part of the indigenous Program, with a logline describing a world where sound precedes creation, and a statue unveiling in Manitoba is followed by a day without sunrise, intertwining the stories of a sculptor, security guard, and civil servant. Nomad Shadow, developed through the Feature Film Program’s Directors Lab, Producers Lab, and Screenwriters Lab, tells the story of Mariam, deported from Europe and returning to Western Sahara, where she seeks to reclaim control of her life.
