October 14, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Seven years have passed since the death of former f(x) member and actress Sulli, whose passing at age 25 shocked the entertainment industry and led to ongoing tributes from those who missed her.

The 2019 Discovery in Seongnam

Investigators found a handwritten note expressing her feelings at the scene, and an autopsy showed no signs of foul play or criminal suspicion.

Child Star to f(x) Breakout

Born in 1994, Sulli began her career as a child actress, appearing in the 2005 SBS drama Ballad of Seodong. In 2009, she debuted as a member of the girl group f(x), participating in hit tracks including “LA chA TA,” “Hot Summer,” “Electric Shock,” and “Rum Pum Pum Pum.” Alongside her music career, she acted in films such as The Pirates and Fashion King.

Sulli Worked as a Singer and Actress After F(X)

After leaving f(x) in 2015, Sulli continued working as both a singer and an actress. Her later projects included an appearance in the 2017 film Real, a feature on DEAN’s 2018 track “dayfly,” the release of her single “Goblin” in 2019, and a special appearance in the tvN series Hotel Del Luna.

Death Halted Events Before Persona: Sulli Premiered

Her sudden death halted numerous entertainment events in 2019, leading to the cancellation or postponement of multiple press conferences and showcases as colleagues and fans memorialized her. At the time of her death, she had been filming a commercial the day before and was scheduled for a broadcast shoot on the day she passed.

Four years after her death, her final project, Persona: Sulli, premiered at the 28th Busan International Film Festival in 2023 before its release on Netflix. The project comprises the short narrative film 4: CLEAN ISLAND and the feature-length documentary Dear Jinri, which features interviews detailing the experiences and reflections of her youth in the entertainment industry.
