Subnotebook SSD Performance Benchmarks: Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 7 vs. Competitors

October 1, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Recent benchmark data details the storage performance of the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 7 AMD, equipped with a Micron 2650 MTFDKBA512TGW drive, positioning it against rival subnotebook models including the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 G6 AMD, HP OmniBook 7 Aero 13-bg1077nr, and MSI Prestige 13 AI+ A3MG. Testing metrics highlight how the Micron 2650 drive handles sustained read and write tasks relative to competing storage hardware within the subnotebook class.

Drive Benchmarks and Read Speeds

The Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 7 AMD running the Micron 2650 MTFDKBA512TGW achieved an average read speed of 4,665 to 4,740 MB/s, with an overall average of 4,650 MB/s across two tested samples. This performance places it near the upper range of the subnotebook class average, which spans from 1,451 to 4,974 MB/s across 54 devices evaluated over the past two years. By comparison, the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 G6 AMD using a Western Digital PC SN8000S SDEPNRK-1T00 drive recorded an average of 4,596 MB/s, while the HP OmniBook 7 Aero 13-bg1077nr with an SK hynix PC801 HFS001TEJ9X101N hit 4,375 MB/s. The MSI Prestige 13 AI+ A3MG equipped with a Micron 2500 1TB MTFDKBA1T0QGN trailed at 3,220 MB/s.

Write Performance and Comparative Metrics

In write operations, the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 7 AMD with the Micron 2650 drive registered an average output of 5,251 MB/s, outperforming the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 G6 AMD configuration which logged 4,295 MB/s using the Western Digital storage. The HP OmniBook 7 Aero 13-bg1077nr reached 3,662 MB/s, and the MSI Prestige 13 AI+ A3MG recorded 3,455 MB/s. Across broader subnotebook benchmarks encompassing 54 models from the past two years, write speeds ranged from 1,201 to 5,392 MB/s.

Additional queue-depth and input/output operations per second (IOPS) assessments place the Micron 2650 drive inside the ThinkPad X13 Gen 7 AMD at 88.2 MB/s for specific random read workloads, compared to 67.3 MB/s for the MSI Prestige 13 AI+ A3MG and 66.5 MB/s for the ThinkPad X13 G6 AMD. For random write tests, the ThinkPad X13 Gen 7 AMD reached 282 MB/s, outpacing the MSI Prestige 13 AI+ A3MG at 183.2 MB/s, the ThinkPad X13 G6 AMD at 143.9 MB/s, and the HP OmniBook 7 Aero at 129.2 MB/s.
