The highly anticipated final season of Stranger Things is drawing closer, and Netflix has begun revealing details about its release. Co-creator Matt duffer recently shared the runtimes for the first four episodes of Volume 1, offering fans a clearer picture of what to expect when the series returns.
This declaration comes as excitement builds for the three-part release, slated to begin November 26th. Knowing the length of these initial installments allows viewers to plan accordingly for the epic conclusion to the story, previously likened by Duffer to “eight blockbuster movies.” The staggered release – Volume 1, Volume 2 on Christmas, and a finale on New Year’s Eve – aims to maximize anticipation and engagement with the show’s final chapters.
According to a video posted on Duffer’s Instagram, the season five premiere, “The Crawl,” will run for one hour and eight minutes. Episode two, “The Vanishing of _,” is 54 minutes long. “The Turnbow Trap,” episode three, will clock in at one hour and six minutes, while episode four, titled “Sorcerer,” is the longest of the initial set at one hour and 23 minutes.
Duffer has previously teased these episodes on social media, calling “The crawl” his “favorite” and “most eventful first episode sence Season 1.” He described episode two’s cold open as “the craziest” the show has ever done, and lauded ”The Turnbow Trap” as the “most classic Stranger Things-y episode of the season,” noting Frank Darabont directed it after coming out of retirement. Episode four, he stated, is “MASSIVE – as big as any finale we’ve ever done.”
