Stranger Things reclaimed the top spot on Nielsen’s Top 10 Overall Streaming chart for the week of January 19, 2026, with 1.66 billion viewing minutes. The Netflix series briefly ceded the lead the prior week, but bounced back to edge out Paramount+’s Landman, which secured the No. 2 position with 1.615 billion minutes viewed.
The latest rankings, released Monday, reveal a competitive streaming landscape where five titles surpassed the one billion viewing minute threshold. Netflix accounted for three of those titles, while Paramount+ and HBO Max each contributed one.
Netflix’s crime thriller, The Rip, moved up one spot to third place, garnering 1.378 billion viewing minutes. The series particularly resonated with the 35-64 age demographic, accounting for 57% of its total audience. Close behind, Netflix’s His & Hers slipped to fourth place with 1.371 billion minutes viewed, likewise drawing a significant 56% of its viewership from the same age group.
HBO Max’s The Pitt maintained its position at No. 5 with 1.191 billion viewing minutes. According to HBO Max, the series is averaging 12 million viewers per episode through six episodes, a 50 percent increase over its first season. Nielsen data indicates that the three available episodes of Season 2 comprised 49% of the program’s viewership, with Season 1 accounting for the remaining 51%.
The latter half of the chart was led by Netflix’s acquired series, Southland, which debuted with 930 million minutes viewed. It was followed by The Closer, a title shared by Netflix, Peacock, and Pluto TV, which held steady at No. 7 with 911 million viewing minutes. Disney+’s animated series Bluey climbed two spots to eighth place with 887 million minutes viewed, while The Traitors on Peacock slid one position to ninth with 865 million minutes. Rounding out the top 10 was Grey’s Anatomy, jointly streamed on Netflix and Hulu, with 844 million minutes viewed.
Recent data indicates a strong performance for streaming content during the holiday season and into the new year. According to Nielsen’s “The Gauge” report, November 2025 delivered one of the most historic months to date in television consumption, with audiences watching over 103 billion minutes of TV on Thanksgiving Day alone. Stranger Things generated nearly 12 billion viewing minutes on Netflix during November, equivalent to over 22,000 years of viewing.
The competitive landscape between streaming services continues to evolve, with new releases and established titles vying for audience attention. As of January 25, 2026, Nielsen has not released data for the following week, leaving the future position of these titles uncertain.
