Stonepeak and Columbia Capital to Acquire Berlin-Based data Center Provider IPB
Berlin,Germany – [Date of Release – inferred from Q4 2024 context] - Stonepeak,a leading alternative investment firm,and Columbia Capital,a growth equity investment firm,have announced a definitive agreement to acquire IPB,a prominent data center and interconnection provider operating in Berlin,Germany. The transaction is anticipated to close in the fourth quarter of 2025. Financial terms were not disclosed.
IPB, founded in 1997 and operating under the CarrierColo brand, provides colocation and network services to over 200 customers from its interconnection data centers in Berlin. The company has established itself as a connectivity leader in the region and was a co-founder of BCIX, berlin’s largest Internet Exchange point (IXP). IPB prioritizes sustainability,powering its data centers with 100% renewable energy and utilizing waste heat re-use contracts.
Stonepeak and Columbia Capital cited IPB’s strategic position within Berlin’s growing digital ecosystem,and its potential to benefit from cloud demand overflow to Tier II markets and the increasing need for AI inferencing infrastructure,as key drivers for the acquisition.
