steelers to Face Bengals Without Key Players, Ramsey Plays Through injury
CINCINNATI – The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without several key players for their Week 7 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. Linebacker Markus bailey is out due to a shoulder injury sustained against the Minnesota Vikings and has missed the last two games. Additionally, the Steelers will be without starting defensive end Trey Hendrickson and starting cornerback Cam Taylor-britt.
The Steelers will need a collective effort to fill the void left by Bailey’s absence. Defensive tackle Cameron Heyward noted several players expected to step up,including Ben Skowronek,Connor Heyward,Carson Bruener,Jack Sawyer, and James Pierre. “A lot of guys have got to step up,” Heyward said. “They all play a vital role, and we need all of them to just keep playing at high levels.”
despite a hamstring injury suffered against the Vikings and multiple missed practices, cornerback Jalen Ramsey is expected to play tonight. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers praised Ramsey’s planning, a sentiment echoed by Steelers coach mike Tomlin. “Without a doubt, and particularly the lens through which Aaron sees it. He’s been in this league 20-plus years, and he knows what’s special,” Tomlin said during an interview with Bob Labriola for steelers.com. “It’s not about what you’re capable of. It’s about what you’re willing to do, and what Jalen displayed to him and his teammates was just that. It was a display of will…He wanted to be out there for and with his teammates.”
Safety DeShon Elliott, initially listed as questionable, has been cleared to play after arriving in Cincinnati on Thursday due to personal reasons.
The Steelers’ full list of inactives has not been released.
