The United Citizen Federation is mobilizing troops for a new campaign against the Arachnid threat, with the release of Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! scheduled for March 16th, 2026. The announcement, made Thursday by publisher Dotemu and developer Auroch Digital, confirms a launch across multiple platforms including the Nintendo Switch 2.
A new gameplay trailer has been released alongside the date confirmation, offering a glimpse into the retro first-person shooter experience. Players can now access an “immersive demo” on Steam (PC), set on the beaches of Zegema Beach, according to a statement from Dotemu. The demo invites players to “join the fight” against the Arachnid menace attempting to overrun the Federation-controlled paradise.
Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! is set 25 years after the events of the original 1997 Starship Troopers film. The single-player campaign follows veteran Samantha Dietz as she recounts her experiences during the First Bug War, specifically her hunt for the Assassin Bug. Players will battle across familiar locations like Klendathu and new worlds such as Planet P, utilizing a range of weaponry including the iconic Morita rifle, 11 Tactical Supports, and a Mech vehicle.
The game will also be available as a physical release on the Switch 2, utilizing a Game-Key Card format. Auroch Digital previously developed Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, while Dotemu is known for publishing Marvel Cosmic Invasion.
General Johnny Rico, portrayed by Casper Van Dien, appears in the new trailer delivering a recruitment message and introducing Major Dietz, played by Charlotta Mohlin. The campaign focuses on Dietz’s wartime experiences and the challenges of confronting the Arachnid threat. Players will have the opportunity to engage in anti-bug combat training, even experiencing combat from the perspective of the Bugs themselves, to better prepare for the conflict.
