SpaceX Boosts Starlink Constellation with Latest Launch from Florida
Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida - SpaceX successfully launched 28 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit on Sunday, August 31, 2025, further expanding its rapidly growing satellite internet network. The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, marking the companyS 112th mission of the year and the 108th launch utilizing the falcon 9 vehicle.
This latest deployment brings the total number of active Starlink satellites to over 8,280, with more than 9,575 satellites launched since 2019. The mission is significant as it continues SpaceX’s efforts to provide high-speed, low-latency internet access to underserved areas globally, and represents a key component of the company’s enterprising plans for space-based connectivity. The first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket, booster 1077, completed its 23rd flight and successfully landed on the drone ship “Just Read the Instructions” in the Atlantic Ocean, demonstrating SpaceX’s commitment to reusable rocket technology.
According to space tracker Jonathan McDowell, the ongoing expansion of the Starlink network is steadily increasing its capacity and coverage. Beyond the Starlink launches, SpaceX has also conducted four suborbital test flights of its Starship vehicle in 2025.
