Springfield Defeats White House 42-8 in Regular-Season Finale

Springfield Defeats White House 42-8 in Regular-Season Finale

October 31, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor News

Springfield Closes Regular Season With 42-8 Win at White House

Springfield defeated White House 42-8 on Oct. 30, 2026, securing a dominant road victory in the regular-season finale to set up a home playoff opener, mainstreetmediatn.com reported.

The Yellow Jackets capitalized on early opportunities after stopping a game-opening drive by White House. Antonio Hambrick moved the ball 28 yards across five carries on the opening possession before losing a fumble recovered by Springfield. The turnover triggered a decisive offensive surge for the visitors.

Amiron Leavell rushed for 11 yards and Bryce Baldwin caught a 22-yard pass from Kason Woodson before Jermaine Cobbins opened the scoring with a 37-yard reception. Preston Ramsey then connected with Leavell on a short pass that turned into a 66-yard touchdown rush. Woodson found Baldwin open again on a 10-yard straight shot to push the lead further.

“That was not even the play he called down there in the end zone. When he gets his number called, that’s just Woodson being who he is and Bryce being who he is,” Springfield head coach Dustin Wilson said. “I mean you got Cobbins, (Jamarion) Gardner, Leavell, and (Claude) Chambers so he knows who he can get it to but Bryce is valuable on the offensive whether he’s got his hands down or he has to split out in that flex position.”

Chambers and Leavell Extend the Lead Before Halftime

Ramsey connected with Chambers for a 32-yard gain before Leavell scored on a 28-yard run. Right before the halftime whistle, Leavell added another score on a 44-yard punt return with 13 seconds left on the clock, leaving the score heavily lopsided at the break.

“Amiron does well in open space so you got to get him the ball, and that’s a big part of the offense when you got a returner like that,” Wilson said regarding the special teams score.

Ramsey rushed for 34 yards in the third quarter and threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Barrett Reynolds. That score built a 42-0 advantage for Springfield heading into the final frame.

White House Breaks Through in the Fourth Quarter

White House avoided a shutout in the fourth quarter when Lucas Rucker broke loose for a 52-yard touchdown run to the goal line. Hambrick followed with a successful two-point conversion run, closing the final margin to 42-8.

“We just had too many mental errors early that cost us,” White House coach Atlee Pond said. “We were able to run the football, which is good. Biggest thing we’re going to preach to our guys is we’re going into the playoffs. Everybody’s 0-0 and it’s a whole new season. We’ll just make sure we take the positives out of it, learn from our mistakes and move forward.”

Class 4A Playoff Matchups Set for Next Week

Springfield enters the postseason as a host, welcoming Creek Wood to campus for the Class 4A playoff opener. White House hits the road for its first-round postseason matchup, traveling to face Marshall County.
