Spotify Integrates ChatGPT, Ushering in AI-Powered Music Experience
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Spotify is expanding beyond music streaming with a new integration of openais ChatGPT, allowing users to control the app and create playlists using voice or text commands. Spotify currently offers weekly discovery playlists and a “Music Gold” feature updated every Monday and friday. With a Spotify premium subscription, users can now further personalize their listening experience by creating custom playlists powered by AI.
The rollout of the feature is gradual, and availability of AI features is tied to subscription level. Notably, the ChatGPT interface displays within its own app, not directly within Spotify, and music playback is initiated from within ChatGPT.
Altman highlighted Spotify alongside other applications like Canva, Booking.com, and Figma as examples of potential integrations for the evolving ChatGPT platform.
