Spiritbox has officially released their anthemic new single ‘Mourning’, marking the band’s first new material since dropping their acclaimed second studio album ‘Tsunami Sea’. The track bridges a more subdued, melodic approach with fiery guitar work, arriving just as the group prepares for their biggest headline run across the United Kingdom.
Deconstructing the Sound of ‘Mourning’ and ‘Tsunami Sea’
The release of ‘Mourning’ follows the commercial and critical momentum of ‘Tsunami Sea’. According to a review published by NME, the band’s sophomore album received four stars and was hailed as “awe-inspiring modern metal,” with critics praising the group for “continuing to push the boundaries of what metalcore can be.”
The NME review further described the album as “a swaggering display of confidence by a band in total command of their craft,” adding that “‘Tsunami Sea’ is solid-as-granite proof that heavy music retains its vitality and relevancy in 2025.”
Global Collaborations and the Valorant Champions Anthem
The new single arrives on the heels of another major cross-genre collaboration. Frontwoman Courtney LaPlante recently teamed up with Bring Me The Horizon vocalist Oli Sykes and producer Grabbitz to forge a brand new anthem for Valorant.
According to reported schedules, the track titled ‘If The Sun Burns Out Tonight’ is slated for release later this year. It will time out with the Valorant Champions Shanghai 2026 Finals, an elite esports tournament uniting the world’s top 16 teams between September 24 and October 18.
Touring Logistics and Live Performance Milestones
Spiritbox’s touring footprint continues to expand at a rapid pace. Earlier this year, the band performed ‘Soft Spine’ from ‘Tsunami Sea’ at the 2026 Grammys, where they earned a nomination for Best Metal Performance for the third time.
Later this week, Spiritbox kicks off their biggest UK headline tour to date. The routing opens at Glasgow’s SEC on September 12, snakes through Nottingham, Manchester, and Cardiff, and wraps up at London’s OVO Arena Wembley on September 19.
Beyond their own headline dates, Spiritbox is booked to support Metallica at Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun Arena on November 21. That performance forms part of the veteran thrash metal band’s exclusive two-night “No Repeat Weekend” series at the venue.
