Explosion Rocks South Tangerang, Damaging Homes and Injuring Seven
South Tangerang, Banten – A mysterious explosion ripped through a densely populated area of Pondok Cabe Ilir Village, Pamulang Sub-district, South Tangerang City early Friday, damaging eight homes and injuring seven residents, police reported.
“There are eight homes affected,with four suffering severe damage and four others sustaining minor damage,” stated south Tangerang Municipal Police Chief Grand Commissioner Adjutant Victor Inkiriwang to the media.
Authorities confirmed three residents sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving hospital treatment. Four others suffered minor wounds and have completed initial care, continuing their recovery as outpatients, Inkiriwang explained.
The blast, which had an impact radius of approximately 500 meters, occurred between 5:15 and 5:30 a.m.local time.The cause of the explosion remains unknown.
“We have secured and sterilized the scene to facilitate the examination,” Inkiriwang said.”The National Police Forensic Laboratory Center (puslabfor) will examine the site to identify the cause of the explosion.” A Puslabfor team is collecting samples to determine the source of the blast.
As a precaution against potential follow-up explosions, residents near the site have been evacuated to a distance of up to 10 meters, with South Tangerang Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel deployed for security. Police also requested a temporary power cut from state-owned electricity company PLN to mitigate further risks.
Inkiriwang emphasized that authorities are prioritizing the safety of residents and are making every effort to determine the cause of the incident.
