Sony Restores PlayStation Exclusive Branding for Major PS5 Games
Sony is bringing back its strict console exclusivity branding by attaching a new PlayStation Exclusive
tag to upcoming tentpole releases on the PlayStation Store. As first spotted on social media by user Radec and reported by Push Square Push Square, official pages and store listings are updating to feature the renewed branding.
For a period of the PS5 generation, Sony ported its games to the PC, rendering very few of its titles genuine exclusives and accustoming many consumers to expect eventual PC ports. In the last year and a bit, the company made an internal decision to focus solely on exclusivity and is slowly beginning to promote that again. Although the manufacturer experimented with bringing its first-party titles to Steam, sales were allegedly poor, prompting the company to double down on exclusivity.

Return of the Branding on Major PS5 Games
Internet users and power user Radec noted on social media that the official PlayStation.com pages and the PlayStation Store PPE now include PlayStation Exclusive
logos and tags for major titles like Until Dawn 2 and Ghost of Yotei. While these sightings have been reported by users in America, the new tags are not yet visible in Poland.
The updated marketing aims to encourage consumers to purchase Sony games without waiting for a PC release. However, the hardware maker has stated it will continue to release select multiplayer and live service games on PC, such as Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.
Sony Plans Aggressive PlayStation Branding Rollout
Sony is expected to tout the PlayStation Exclusive
branding more aggressively once it rebuilds its library. This rollout is slated to begin with next year’s God of War Laufey and potentially Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
