Rising NHL Prospects Deliver Dominant Early Season Performances

November 7, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Jovanovski Starts Strong While Klimpke Leads Defensemen

Opening the Canadian Hockey League season at a blistering pace, goaltender Jovanovski posted back-to-back shutouts and a 130:15 shutout streak. During Friday’s 2-1 overtime victory against Owen Sound, the 19-year-old stopped 35 shots to push his record to 8-0-0 alongside a 1.86 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage through eight games. The Carolina Hurricanes selected Jovanovski in the sixth round, at No. 165, of the 2026 draft.

Conversely, Saskatoon defenseman Brayden Klimpke has shouldered a heavy offensive load from the blue line in the Western Hockey League. Klimpke recorded an assist in a 5-4 loss to Seattle on Oct. 31, bringing his total to 19 points on five goals and 14 assists through 15 games. That production ties him for the lead among WHL defensemen, outstripping the four goals he managed across 68 games last season following his selection by the Montreal Canadiens in the fourth round (No. 117) of the 2026 draft.

Roobroeck Claims October Honors as Radkov Protects the Val-d’Or Net

Guelph left wing Ryan Roobroeck claimed OHL player of the month honors for October after accumulating 20 points through 11 games. He wrapped up the month on Oct. 31 by scoring two goals in the second period and picking up an assist on the game-winner during a 5-3 triumph over Saginaw. Selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the second round (No. 35) of the 2026 draft, Roobroeck opened November by assisting on Vladimir Dravecky’s game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory against Kitchener on Tuesday, extending his point streak to seven games.

Meanwhile, in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League, goaltender Arseni Radkov anchored Val-d’Or with 24 saves during the final two periods of a 4-2 win against North Bay on Nov. 1. That performance lifted Radkov’s record to 6-0-1 with a 2.36 goals-against average and .916 save percentage across nine appearances. The Belarus-born 19-year-old, whose draft pedigree includes being taken by the Montreal Canadiens in the third round (No. 82) of the 2025 NHL Draft, played for both Blainville-Boisbriand and Saint John last year prior to a June 6 trade to Val-d’Or.

Ruml Matches Blue Line Scoring Pace in Ottawa

Ottawa defenseman Ondrej Ruml matched the offensive output of his peers by opening November with his most productive outing of the season. After scoring in his final two games of October, Ruml notched a goal and two assists—including a helper on Filip Ekberg’s overtime winner—in a 7-6 victory against Oshawa on Nov. 1, earning OHL player of the week honors on Nov. 2. The Colorado Avalanche drafted the 18-year-old in the seventh round (No. 214) in 2026, and he currently shares the OHL lead for goals by a defenseman with eight tallies in 16 games.
