Sony launched Live TV on PS5 in the U.S. on August 31, bringing over 100 free, ad-supported live channels and on-demand entertainment directly to PlayStation 5 users. According to an official PlayStation Blog post, players can access the service through the console’s Media tab without requiring a paid subscription or hidden fees.

How to Access Live TV on PS5

PlayStation 5 owners in the United States can navigate to the console’s Media tab, select the “Live TV on PS5” icon, and sign in with a PlayStation Network account to start watching. Both live linear broadcasts and on-demand libraries are immediately accessible upon signing in.

Programming Lineup Across Movies, Sports, and Anime

The newly deployed service features a diverse catalog of intellectual property sourced from major media partners. Free movie offerings span channels such as MovieSphere by Lionsgate, 50 Cent Action, FilmRise Free Movies, Sony One Horror Hits, and Cinevault.

Television programming includes syndicated fan favorites like Community, The Shield, Hell’s Kitchen, The Walking Dead, Forensic Files, Unsolved Mysteries, Deal or No Deal USA, and Fear Factor, alongside A+E’s Ice Road Truckers. Anime enthusiasts gain access to titles like Naruto, Sailor Moon, Hunter x Hunter, and Death Note, alongside dedicated Crunchyroll channels. Sports fans can stream coverage from FOX Sports, NASCAR, NBC Sports Now, and UFC, covering mixed martial arts, football, hockey, motorsports, and soccer. News and weather coverage features NBC News Now, Fox Weather, and LiveNOW from FOX, while creator-led programming brings digital hits like Hot Ones and Spotify’s The Ringer to the console environment.

Expansion Plans and Platform Strategy

Sony confirmed that the current U.S. rollout is just the initial phase for the ad-supported television initiative. The unexpected drop arrives during a busy operational week for the hardware manufacturer, which also scheduled back-to-back PlayStation State of Play presentations featuring updates on titles like Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.
