Son Honors Motorcyclists Who Saved His Injured Father in TPE Crash
Jonathan Lee took to Facebook on Wednesday to express gratitude to a group of motorcyclists who provided critical assistance to his father following a traffic accident on the Tampines Expressway.
The incident occurred on May 3 at approximately 7:35 am. The 71-year-old man was driving a van along the Tampines Expressway (TPE) toward the Seletar Expressway (SLE) when another vehicle collided with his vehicle.
The crash took place in the vicinity of the Sengkang East Road/Punggol Way exit. According to Lee, his father was unable to access his phone to call for help or notify his family of his location immediately following the collision.
A group of motorcyclists stopped at the scene to provide aid and call for an ambulance. One rider, identified as Chris, contacted the victim’s sister, who then alerted Lee. At the time of the accident, Lee was in Malaysia.
Lee noted that Chris provided further support by speaking with his father and taking photographs of the scene, which provided reassurance that the man was being cared for while injured.
“He was hurt. He couldn’t reach for his phone to call for help. He couldn’t tell anyone where he was, or that his children needed to know,” Lee wrote in his post.
Addressing the riders who intervened, Lee wrote: “To the riders who stopped: Thank you. You didn’t have to. You had every reason to keep going. You stopped anyway. Our family will not forget it.”
The 71-year-old sustained fractured bones and other injuries. He remains hospitalized at Changi General Hospital, where he is undergoing physiotherapy to stabilize his walking.
Police investigations into the accident are ongoing.
