NEW YORK (October 11,2024) – Actress adn comedian Kristen Wiig will return to Studio 8H to host the season premiere of “Saturday Night Live” on October 12,2024.This marks Wiig’s third time hosting the show overall and her second time as sole host, following previous appearances in 2005 and 2009.
The premiere is particularly noteworthy as “SNL” begins its 51st season following a landmark 50th year celebrated wiht special programming and a record-breaking Emmy Awards haul. Wiig was a prominent figure throughout the anniversary events, participating in a memorable audience Q&A with Tina Fey.
Also appearing on October 12th is musical guest, singer-songwriter Ice Spice.
The upcoming season will feature a refreshed cast, welcoming five new featured players after the departure of Ego Nwodim and Devon Walker, among others. “SNL” recently received 12 emmy Awards recognizing both its 50th season and anniversary programming, including an award for outstanding variety special.
During the Emmy Awards telecast, “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels reflected on the show’s longevity, stating, “I won this award for the first time 50 years ago, in 1975,” and adding that he hadn’t envisioned continuing the show for another half-century.
