Shoegaze Icons Chapterhouse and Hum, Alongside nothing, to Headline 2026 Slide Away Festival
New York, NY – Shoegaze enthusiasts are in for a treat as Chapterhouse, Hum, and Nothing have been announced as headliners for the inaugural Slide Away festival, set to take place in New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles in May 2026. The festival promises a deep dive into the genre, celebrating both established acts and rising stars within the shoegaze and option music scenes.
slide Away will feature Chapterhouse, Hum, and Nothing performing at all three locations. The festival marks a significant moment for Hum, who will be returning to the stage for thier first live performances since the passing of drummer Bryan St. Pere in 2021. Jason Gerken of shiner will join Hum on drums,having previously filled in for St. Pere in 2015 and 2018. Additionally, Nothing will be celebrating the 10-year anniversary of their acclaimed album Tired of Tomorrow during the festival run.
The festival kicks off May 15 and 16 at Brooklyn Paramount in New York city,with a supporting lineup including Bleary Eyed,Lovesliescrushing,Manslaughter 777,She’s Green,Swirlies,and Warmachine. The event then moves to Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom on May 23, featuring sets from Cloakroom, Lovesliescrushing, and Sunshy. Slide Away concludes May 29 and 30 at the Hollywood palladium in Los Angeles, with Cryogeyser, Mint Field, Ovlov, Seko, and Terraplana rounding out the bill.
Chapterhouse,formed in 1987 in Reading,England,initially disbanded in 1994 after releasing two albums,including the highly regarded shoegaze classic Whirlpool.The band briefly reunited in 2008 for a performance with Ulrich Schnauss and formally reformed in 2009, embarking on a short tour in 2010.
