Illinois Authorities Arrest Woman ‌Allegedly⁢ Obstructing Search for Morgan Geyser,Former ⁤”Slender Man” Stabber

Illinois police arrested a woman sunday night accused of obstructing efforts to locate Morgan Geyser, who was recently released from a mental ‌health facility adn subsequently went missing. Geyser, 30, was found safe in ⁢Illinois after a multi-state search.

Geyser was last ⁢seen⁢ around 8 p.m. Saturday‌ and⁢ was⁢ reported missing nearly 12 hours later by the Madison Police Department.Authorities ‍were alerted saturday night when‍ the Wisconsin Department of Corrections received a malfunction alert from Geyser’s ankle monitor.the department contacted the Madison group home where‌ she resided and ‌learned she had removed the ⁤bracelet and was not there.

Geyser and a ⁤friend had been walking⁣ toward ⁢Chicago, approximately⁢ 170 miles south of Madison, when⁢ she injured her foot and they stopped. The friend, whose name has ‍not been ‌released, was ‌taken into custody for obstruction. ‍Police indicated Geyser would ⁣likely ⁣be ⁤returned to the Winnebago Mental Health Institute following an extradition hearing.

Geyser was committed to the Winnebago Mental health Institute for 40 years in 2018 after being found guilty, but not criminally ‌responsible ‍due to mental illness, for her role in the 2014 stabbing of Payton Leutner.Geyser and Anissa weier, both 12 at the time, lured Leutner to ‌a Waukesha park and⁢ Geyser⁢ stabbed ‌her 19 times while Weier encouraged her. The girls told investigators they attacked Leutner to‌ appease the fictional‍ character Slender Man, believing⁢ it would protect their families.

Weier was also committed to a mental health facility but was released in 2021 with ‌conditions,‌ including GPS monitoring. Geyser ⁣was released from custody earlier this ‍year ‍after experts testified she ‍had made progress in addressing ⁣her mental illness.
