Sinner Wins in Doha: Advances to Semifinals | Qatar Open 2024

February 19, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Jannik Sinner advanced to the semifinals of the Qatar Open in Doha on Wednesday, defeating Alexei Popyrin 6-3, 7-5. The victory comes after Sinner previously overcame Tomáš Macháč in the tournament.

The world number two will next face Jakub Menšík, a 16-year-old Czech player who upset Zhizhen Zhang 6-3, 6-2 to reach his first ATP semifinal. The match between Sinner and Menšík is scheduled for Thursday, February 19, 2026, according to Livesport.cz.

Menšík’s path to the semifinal included a first-round win over British qualifier Jan Choinski after recovering from a first-set loss, as reported by iDNES.cz. He is currently ranked 16th in the ATP rankings.

There is no prior match history between Sinner and Menšík, making their semifinal clash a first-time encounter. Betting odds, as of Wednesday, favor Sinner at 2.45 to win, whereas Menšík is listed at 1.54, according to Sport.cz.

Sinner’s win over Popyrin continues a strong run of form for the Italian, while Menšík’s performance marks a significant breakthrough for the young Czech player.
