Singer-songwriter iri releases Firefly Wedding MV, reports Crunchyroll
Singer-songwriter iri has released the music video for her new song “Period,” which serves as the opening theme for the fall 2026 TV anime Firefly Wedding, Crunchyroll News reported. The track marks the artist’s first anime tie-in song and is currently available for digital streaming following the series premiere.
Firefly Wedding Anime Premieres on Fuji TV
The television adaptation of Oreko Tachibana’s Firefly Wedding manga premiered in Japan on October 9, 2026, airing on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block on Fridays at 11:30 p.m. Takahiro Kamei directs the series at animation studio david production. Yuko Kakihara handles series composition and scripts, Yukiko Aikei provides the character designs, and NOGRID is composing the music.
The series features Lynn as Satoko Kirigaya and Kōki Uchiyama as Shinpei Gotō. The voice cast also includes Kent Itō as Kōtarō Ogawa and Kenjirō Tsuda as Mitsueda. Viz Media publishes the original manga in English, which launched on Shogakukan’s Manga ONE app in January 2023, with the 12th compiled book volume published on June 19.

“Period” received a digital release on October 9, with a physical CD single scheduled to follow on November 18. Meanwhile, TOOBOE performs the series ending theme song, “Yumegokochi.” Crunchyroll streams the anime for members in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, and the Indian Subcontinent.
Artist Perspectives on the Tie-In
Reflecting on her contribution to the series, iri shared a statement on the anime’s official website explaining her creative process. She noted that this project is her very first time writing a song specifically for an anime. She stated that she was deeply moved by the character Satoko, who stands firmly on her own two feet and faces reality head-on despite being nearly crushed by harsh truths. Because this collaboration coincides with a turning point for her, she created the song while reflecting on her current feelings.
Pixelwolf noted that the main promotional video pairs the series dangerous central relationship with the first public preview of iri’s track. The publication observed that “Period” introduces a contemporary, beat-led vocal identity to a Meiji-era story rather than relying on a conventional period-drama sound, establishing a distinct pop pulse against the narrative’s escalating tension.

Satoko Proposes Marriage to Assassin Shinpei
Viz Media outlines the premise of Firefly Wedding around Satoko Kirigaya, a noblewoman who appears to have everything—beauty and elite status—except time, as she is also quite ill and only has a short time left to live. When a mysterious assassin named Shinpei targets her, she makes a desperate marriage proposal to save her life. Shinpei accepts, taking “until death do we part” seriously.
As the series broadcasts weekly, international fans can follow the episodes on Crunchyroll while awaiting the physical release of iri’s single in November.
