Belgian Artists Win Big at the NRJ Music Awards While Angèle Stays Home
At the NRJ Music Awards 2026, Belgian artists Helena and TeddyBear secured major wins in Cannes, while fellow Belgian nominee Angèle went home empty-handed after canceling her appearance due to illness. Paris Match Belgique reported that TeddyBear won the award for Révélation francophone de l’année, adding to a strong night for the country’s music scene.
Helena Secures Concert of the Year After Nearly 100 Tour Dates
Helena took home the prize for Concert francophone de l’année, thanking her supporters directly. J’ai conscience que cette catégorie était très importantes. J’ai eu la chance d’aller voir pratiquement tous les artistes qui étaient nommés avec moi. J’ai conscience aussi que c’est grâce au public que j’ai ce prix. Merci beaucoup !
she stated. She also reflected on the scale of her recent live performances. Je suis extrêmement reconnaissante parce que c’est ma toute première tournée de toute ma vie et qu’on a fait presque 100 dates. J’ai une grosse pensée pour toute mon équipe, les 50 personnes qui m’accompagnent sur la route,
she added.
TeddyBear Claims Breakthrough Award for Belgium
Jules Scinta, performing under the name TeddyBear, won the Révélation belge de l’année category at just 24 years old. The Montois singer, known for tracks such as Tout va bien
and Chaussures Roses,
joined previous winners including Pierre de Maere, Sola, Helena, and Orlane. Je ne m’attendais pas à ça déjà cette année, donc je suis vraiment super content. Gagner dans cette catégorie, c’est une fierté !
he remarked. Anouk, Jellam, Pia, and Bas Serra were also nominated in the category.
Angèle Misses Out After Catching a Cold
Angèle received nominations for Artiste féminine francophone de l’année and Collab’ francophone de l’année alongside Justice, but won neither. Marine, the winner of Star Academy, claimed the female artist trophy, which was presented by Helena. The collaborative prize went instead to Jungeli and Emma. Angèle did not travel to Cannes for the ceremony after catching a cold and remaining confined to bed, following a release party for her third album, Instinct, on the Grand-Place de Bruxelles.
Belgian Presenters Add Local Flavor to the Ceremony
Alongside the nominees and winners, Pierre De Maere and Helena appeared on stage as presenters during the broadcast. Paris Match Belgique noted that their role followed comedian Guihome representing the country as a presenter the previous year, maintaining a visible Belgian presence at the French awards ceremony.
