Janette Blomgren, a former flight attendant turned personal trainer, has released a new book focused on holistic wellness for women, although continuing to operate a private fitness studio out of a converted garage in Sigtuna, Sweden. Blomgren, known locally as “Nette,” has spent several years working with seniors in the Sigtuna municipality and offering individualized training.
Blomgren’s approach to fitness centers on mental wellbeing as much as physical strength. “You won’t be able to deliver a lift if your brain is thinking about a lot of other things,” she explained, emphasizing the importance of internal focus. “You have to work from the inside out, and there are many things that are more important than being strong.”
Her book, titled “Den berömda balansen – dags att uppgradera sig” (The Famous Balance – Time to Upgrade Yourself), challenges conventional fitness wisdom. Blomgren rejects restrictive diets and excessive training, advocating instead for structure, mindful choices, and long-term health building. A significant portion of the book addresses the unique challenges women face at different life stages, particularly during menopause, a topic she believes men should also understand. “The more men know, the easier it will be to cooperate or understand each other,” she stated.
Blomgren’s primary clientele consists of women over 40, a demographic she feels often neglects self-care. “It’s a group that doesn’t prioritize themselves. The children and everything else come first, and what happens to that woman? She doesn’t feel so well,” she observed. She frames self-care not as selfishness, but as a strategic investment in overall wellbeing.
Beyond gym sessions, Blomgren encourages her clients to incorporate simple self-care practices into their routines, such as walks, quiet time, and social connections. According to a profile on hälsofestivalen.se, Blomgren is a certified PT, nutrition advisor, mental coach, mobility specialist, and lecturer, demonstrating the breadth of her expertise. She currently runs an exclusive PT studio in Sigtuna, offering massage and lifestyle guidance both in person, and online.
This is Blomgren’s second published work, following a children’s book. She jokingly referenced a belief that publishing two books officially qualifies someone as an author.
